Today we’d like to introduce you to Reginald Paige Jr.
Hi Reginald, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing photography when I was younger. My dad actually got me taking pictures & showed me how a camera worked. He ended up getting a new camera & he let me use his old one and come to photoshoots with him to learn how they work. The one thing my dad told me is that “the camera doesn’t take the picture, you take the picture” especially if your working im Manual mode. Thats honestly the only mode I like to work in because you control how they picture will come out and how you will edit it too. My dad knew I wanted his camera but he would always say “when I get a new one Ill giveyou this one” but sadly my dad passes in 2022. I took up the mantle and kept his camera & polish my skill to make him smile at me. I started to go to powershoots and THAT changed everything for me especially for lighting. Now that I learned how I can properly take outdoor pictures especially at night. Everything changed for me & how I viewed a lot of my photos & my models of what I can really do. I can show my before I learned light pictures and after I learned lighting pictures, you’ll even say I improved A LOT. I till this day continue photography because I love that I can put out beautiful photos even if I take a little hiatus too.
And other thing I know every photographer knows angles, lighting and everything they need to know about taking pictures but when I was coming up i use to think “the photographer needs to be picture ready as the models” and I thought the model would trust someone fly and fresh behind the camera because they’ll know the right everything for the pictures but I kinda grew out of it but sometimes I still think that.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes and No. Finding clients was kinda hard but really all I did was take pictures of my friends who were pretty, fresh or just look good on camera. I just did photoshoots with them and people would pay attention to my work or some that see my work & still ask “is it a good outdoor photographer”. So I would say yes but also no because you just have to find your own flow, your own way of editing & everything to get past those struggles sometimes.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m more of a streetwear photography or professional pictures of course but I like to get fly pictures of people on their best days honestly.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
They honestly hit me up & Ill already be down to take pictures or sometimes Ill be wanting to take their pictures & sometimes feel like my work not good enough but then once we shoot they see the fye pictures and would want more. So really I like to work with anyone thats not rude and that’s really cool.
