Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Daley.
Hi Ruth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My love for travel began at an early age.. As a kid Growing up in Brooklyn, NY to Carribean immigrants (Big Up to Jamaica 🇯🇲), it wasn’t uncommon to visit family overseas during the holidays. Who knew that I would one day be able to make a career out of what I’m passionate about.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting the business wasn’t as smooth as I thought it would be. Approximately 2 weeks after I started my business, the travel industry was affected. Not too many people realized that there was a shift in demand. For example: vacations requests were made specifically for areas within the United States, the demand for rental cars as well as vacation homes increased. In this business or any business what may be considered a hindrance, there’s always an opportunity for growth and expansion in areas not once considered.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As an entrepreneur, you have to have thick skin. I personally wear many hats. I’m a hardworking Mompreneur (yes, you’ve read that correctly) of a teenage daughter who’s been working in the Arts and Entertainment Industry for the past 10 years. Taking her to gigs and watching how the industry works gave me a clearer understanding of what means to have “tough skin”. What’s meant to be, will be…..
I’m so proud of the fact that every “No” answer that I’ve gotten in life, pushes me to the next level.
A “no” answer is a missed opportunity, a missed blessing for that person not believing in themselves. The pie is big enough for everyone to get a slice.
What makes you happy?
The ability to help someone plan their perfect getaway is the biggest reward. I recently planned a honeymoon for a couple and upon their return, they could not stop raving about how great the resort was. As a result, referrals were sent my way and I’m now planning their next vacation.
