Today we’d like to introduce you to S. Shyrell Jamison.
Hi S. Shyrell, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child, I’ve always dared to be different. So, growing up to be in the beauty industry wasn’t far-fetched for me. I started out providing services for myself, making me the “walking billboard” for my upcoming business venture.
March 27, 2014, Hair Gossip & Company was launched. During this time, I was attending school at a local college, which allowed me to use my colleagues as my target audience. I would create flyers during my spare time and leave them randomly throughout the school campus.
Eventually, I transitioned into social media marketing where things really started to elevate, clientele-wise. My network started to grow and I was then able to build a business buzz for H.G. & Co.
As a business, I started participating in fashion shows, business events, and collaborations that allowed me to connect with other great business owners, hairstylists, models, and makeup artists.
Since then, I’ve been actively researching ways to continue to take Hair Gossip & Company to the next level. I learn something new every day in business which promotes longevity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the beginning, it seems easy, but as time progressed, I realized it was a lot of work required to keep a business running and I was willing to put in the work.
So, no, the road hasn’t always been smooth but it has been enjoyable and I wouldn’t change anything about the process.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a hairstylist, makeup artist, beauty consultant, and a hair vendor.
I am most known for my signature ponytails, traditional sew-ins, bobs, and my unique makeup looks!
As a business owner, I’m most proud of my perseverance. My ability to just keep going is still very motivating to me as an individual. No matter what obstacles come my way, I always put my best effort forward.
One of the things that set me aside from others is my authenticity. I strive to be myself in every aspect of my life, including business.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
A few ways others can work with, collaborate, or support me is by connecting with us on our platforms, @hairgossipco. That will allow us to have an open rapport for communication and to keep them updated on what we are doing and what they may be interested in collaboration-wise.
We also may be reached at hairgossip.hg@gmail.com for further communication.
