Today we’d like to introduce you to Saf & Tia.
Hi Saf & Tia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Initially, we were just two best friends that enjoyed sharing music with each other. The true inspiration behind Greedy Girlz was to make mixes/mashups we can gate-keep amongst ourselves. However, when we did decide to share it with the world, we had an immediate overwhelming amount of support from people all over. We decided to take it as a sign and to continue to share our creations and to put them on stage.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far, it has been a smooth road for us! Of course, there are some hiccups here & there, but that’s all a part of the journey. The only challenging thing thus far is finding spaces where we are appreciated as open-format DJs, especially here in Atlanta. Since ATL is a hip hop dominated city it’s tough finding a crowd that is open to our versatility.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are open-format DJs that specialize in any genre you could possibly think of. From Brazilian funk, balie funk, juke, jersey, bossa nova, jungle, house, drum & bass, dance, alternative, reggae, dancehall, afrobeats, indie, techno, jazz, electronic, rave, etc… What sets us apart from most DJs is the wide range of music/ genres we play with. Most DJs stick to one genre… which can be very limiting. We like to be able to play freely and be in spaces where we can have fun with different sounds. We haven’t accomplished all we set out to do just yet, but we are definitely proud of the progress we are making towards our goals. It warms our hearts to see that we are building a genuinely supportive community around Greedy Girlz.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support us by coming to shows, listening to our SoundCloud, and following our social media accounts. We get asked by our supporters to come to places all over the world to dj. The best way we can get there is if people continue to share our videos & music with promoters/ club owners all over!
