Daily Inspiration: Meet Sean Morgan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Morgan.

Sean Morgan

Hi Sean, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began wanting to pursue a career in photography and graphic design. After five years of being a photographer, I decided to make the jump to filmmaking. I started out like most videographers, shooting music videos and real estate for the next seven years. I made my transition to Indie films with my first feature (Product of the Poison), where I was hired as the Director of Photography. Over the last five years, I have worked various roles in film; from PA, Assistant Camera, Director of Photography to writing and directing my own films, as well as producing full-production commercials.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s nothing smooth about running your own business or pursuing a career in the creative arts field. I often hear, “You are killing it” or “You are doing big things”, but people rarely see the struggle. The real challenge of trying to pursue your dreams while also maintaining financial obligations and supporting a growing business. You really have to celebrate every win and be prepared to weather every loss.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the Owner and Director of Photography at MUVIfilms. MUVIfilms is a production company based out of Summerville, SC. We specialize in commercial business applications, interviews, product display, and social media content for businesses of all sizes, as well as Indie Films. I am most proud of the friendships I have made along the way, and I feel what sets us apart from other production companies is the personal relationships that we build with our clients.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Being able to provide for my family, as well as getting to create art for others to relate to. Success is being kind, and once you reach a level of growth, reach down and pull others up with you. In this world, art is very subjective. Not everyone is going to relate to my films, nor is everyone going to like the way I create, but for me, being successful is having the audience connect with the emotion and the creative details I put into the film.
