Today we’d like to introduce you to Selena Wilson.
Hi Selena, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I created my brand during the most difficult time in my life with the hospitalization of my mother. Although she’s no longer here, I’ve decided to continue to try to make an impact in the world. Already Dope’s business model is to build on the self-esteem of our customers while encompassing their individuality. I’ve been able to utilize social media influencers to share our products with our niche. Today I continue to sell merchandise online and reach customers virtually. I have had the opportunity to be a vendor at high-traffic events building brand awareness. My desire is for Already Dope to build partnerships with local organizations to spread our message of self-worth through our collection of self-affirming pieces. I will continue to share my story to encourage others of their value and how Already Dope is their reflection.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s a constant struggle as a newly developed company learning how to operate in such a highly saturated market. Marketing is key and is one our struggles as the budget has to be established to invest in SEO optimization and social media ads. Although we’re up for the challenge.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been in logistics over 17 years so I’m proficient in inventory control and managing our processes. I’ve had the opportunity to obtain our Trademark registration for Already Dope that I submitted without an attorney. I’m most proud of my staying power and believing in my brand. I’ve always considered myself a hustler and I’m not going to stop pursuing a thing until completion so this sets me apart from many who give up due to lack of motivation.
What’s next?
I would love the opportunity of public speaking because I have a gift of uplifting others with thought-provoking messages of inspiration. I’m looking forward to sitting on more panels and sharing my insight on obtaining intellectual property.
