Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanifah Brothers.

Hi Shanifah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started a saucy vocals network formerly known as saucy vocals in 2019 in my college dorm room at Norfolk State University. I did not intend the brand to blow up at the time. Around 2020 I noticed how my brand caught the attention of celebrities such as Avery Wilson, George Lovett, and Rodney Jerkins. Celebrities talking about the brand gave me the encouragement to continue running the branding and adding resources for artists as well. Around 2021 a casting director from American Idol reached out to me to recruit talent for the show which is a significant peak for the brand. A year later Motown gospel reach out to me to interview kelly price. Fast Forward to now I feel my brand has taken on another level in the music community, I have built a solid fan base that continues to support the movement behind the page.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Building a brand like saucy vocals network has not been a walk in the park. In almost three years of running this brand, I have faced rejection of partnerships I remember in 2019 I was trying to do a collaboration with a small company and was instantly rejected, however; that gave me the opportunity to create opportunities for others such as hosting talent shows and discussions with other people in the music community. Also, I had to fight for recognition in the music community I had to prove myself as a person who did not build a brand for the fame but actually has the gift to find talent. For instance, I remember being on live and discussing music, and people told me I was not qualified to critique artists. I learned throughout running this brand you have to have tough skin in the music community.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The main person who played a role in the development of the saucy vocals network is my mentor and friend dileesa archer. Dileesa Archer is a popular vocal coach in Atlanta, Georgia I discovered her on youtube in 2019 and I was impressed by how she broke down Mariah Carey’s voice. A year later I reach out to her to do voice lessons and became a client. After becoming a client of hers she inspired me to listen to vocal techniques with singers. If it was not for her guidance my brand would not be where it is today. My grandmother Virginia who taught me what real music sounds like by exposing me to great RnB and Gospel artists growing up.
