Daily Inspiration: Meet Shantrice Fulton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantrice Fulton.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out working in the Dental Field, but my passion has always been food, not cooking it but eating it (lol) and my favorite foods have always been carnival foods. I’ve been a Six Flags season pass holder for many years and never used it for rides, only to go in and eat all of the carnival foods that I can. In 2014, I opened my first store selling only candy apples and I stayed in that business for three years and due to personal reasons, I had to close. So in 2019, with the help of my kids, I decided to go back into business not only offering candy apples but offering the complete carnival food experience by offering funnel cakes, candy apples, smoked turkey legs, fried Oreos and shaved ice, all of the foods I loved when I attended the carnivals in the past.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road wasn’t always smooth while opening in the midst of a pandemic. There were always thoughts of my progression while everything around me was closing down and jobs were fading away fast. I struggled with getting my affairs in order while the county shut down, allowing workers to work from home, not allowing employees to be available when I needed them.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional, first of all! I love everything that I do while keeping my customers happy with their order of choice. I specialize in creating carnival foods that are known to many from their younger years while creating memories that they can share with their kids/nieces/nephews etc. My proudest moment is allowing my kids to experience entrepreneurship while allowing me to be their teacher. My professionalism sets me apart from others by always keeping my customers and their wants first. I listen to them and try to meet all of their needs by following through with positive feedback as well as being open to constructive criticism (if any). I strive to put them first.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I don’t have any advice for finding a mentor but I can add to always be open to everyone that is able to share a piece of knowledge where it can be used to benefit you and your journey through life.
