Daily Inspiration: Meet Simone Butler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Butler.

Hi Simone, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
“I think being an entrepreneur was always written in my DNA; I’ve always had this creative spark and a desire to build something of my own. My journey actually started out of a season of unpredictability—I was tired of the instability of traditional jobs and knew I needed to win back my time. While I didn’t necessarily ‘choose’ the insurance path at first, I quickly realized it was the perfect vehicle for everything I cared about: connecting with businesses, deep community outreach, and actually making a measurable difference in people’s lives.”

“As I narrowed my focus and specialized in Medicare, my role shifted from just being an agent to becoming a guide. That’s how ‘The Benefits Coach’ was born. I realized that people don’t just need a policy; they need someone to coach them through the confusion so they can step into their next chapter with peace of mind. Today, my business is the intersection of my heart for the community and my drive for excellence. I’m not just selling insurance; I’m building a legacy of support and helping my clients protect theirs.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“Smooth? Not even close. If the road were smooth, everyone would be doing this. This was a faith walk. My biggest struggle was the ‘mental shift’—moving from the safety of a paycheck to the total responsibility of being the one in charge. In the beginning, I was fighting to find my voice in an industry that felt very stiff and ‘by the book.’ I’m a creative at heart, and for a long time, I felt like I had to dim my light just to fit the image of what an insurance agent ‘should’ look like.”

“There were seasons of sheer exhaustion where I was trying to be everything to everyone—the coach, the advocate, the business owner, and the community leader. I had to learn the hard way that you can’t pour from an empty cup. The breakthrough came when I stopped trying to fit in and leaned into my ‘The Benefits Coach’ identity. I realized my creativity wasn’t a flaw; it was my competitive edge. Once I decided to build the business on my own terms—focusing on impact over just income—the road didn’t necessarily get flatter, but I definitely got stronger for the climb.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
“At my core, I am a builder and a creative strategist. While many see Medicare as a world of black-and-white forms and cold statistics, I see it as a canvas for community advocacy and empowerment. I specialize in taking the complex, overwhelming pieces of the healthcare puzzle and redesigning them into a clear, accessible ‘masterpiece’ for my clients. What I’m most proud of is building The Benefits Coach brand from the ground up—not by following the typical corporate playbook, but by staying true to my creative roots. What truly sets me apart is this ‘Impact-First’ approach; I don’t just provide a service, I design a lifestyle of security and confidence for those entering their next big chapter. I am an artist whose medium is human connection and financial peace of mind.”

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
“My best advice for networking is to stop ‘collecting contacts’ and start building a community. For me, the most successful connections didn’t happen at stiff corporate mixers; they happened when I showed up where my heart was—in the community, at local business outreaches, and in spaces where people were actually solving problems. I always say, don’t just look for a mentor; look for a ‘mirror’—someone who reflects the level of excellence and integrity you want to see in yourself. I’ve found that when you lead with value and a genuine desire to make an impact, the right mentors naturally gravitate toward you.”

“What worked best for me was being intentional about my ‘inner circle.’ I stopped asking ‘What can this person do for me?’ and started asking ‘How can our visions align?’ Mentorship isn’t a one-way street; it’s a partnership. I looked for people who were 10 steps ahead of me in business but shared my DNA for service. If you want to find a mentor, be the most teachable person in the room and the one most willing to do the work. Authentic networking is about building a bridge long before you ever need to cross it.”
