Today we’d like to introduce you to Skai Rose-Young.
Hi Skai, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Queens, NY, and from a young age I had a deep love for the arts. I took dance classes at Alvin Ailey and performed in plays and shows hosted by my after-school teacher, Ms. Yvonne, who truly nurtured my talents. I was the kid who could sing, dance, and act, and she made sure I had every opportunity to develop all of those skills.
Fast forward to 2018: I graduated from high school and committed to Clark Atlanta University, where I really built my foundation. I immersed myself in the entertainment industry, working as many production assistant and brand ambassador jobs as I could, which helped me form the connections I have today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve faced many obstacles during my transition from moving to Atlanta to New York. I lost one of my best friends in 2020 who always breathed live into anyone she met. Also trying to focus on school and find what your niche is incredibly hard because for one, I was struggling to graduate. Post college, more opportunities were given to me but trying to just maintain life itself becomes hard because you have the stress of bills now being a young adult trying to navigate her craft. Also the industry is very over saturated with IG models, influencer, actors and artists so it’s really just finding your space to stand out. But I have found that these struggles are struggles that have shaped the person who I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I consider myself a multifaceted woman and an all around creative. I wear many hats, and I truly believe I excel in various areas. Since moving to Atlanta, I’ve honed in on my acting, with one of my biggest projects being “U Made Me A St4r” by 4Btaz, a short film on YouTube promoting his album, which currently has 1.5M views. Another project I’m very proud of is “Gas Station Love” by EJ Jones, also on YouTube, which now sits at 3.2M views. In the new year I will be in the Netflix show “Ocean Parkway” as Remi.
As an artist myself, I’ll be releasing my first song in January 2026, and I believe that will become one of my proudest moments.
What sets me apart is my individuality and my commitment to staying true to who I am. I don’t let other people’s opinion or society’s expectations dictate how I choose to show up in the world. The way I present myself will always be part of a purposeful plan shaped by both me and God.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My goal in life is to be a mogul within the entertainment industry.
