Daily Inspiration: Meet Sophia Dashing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Dashing.

Hi Sophia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve loved performing, singing and dancing since I could walk. It’s all I’ve ever loved since I was super young and it was something that developed and came to me very naturally. As I started to get older, I explored a couple of different alleys that had to do with the arts like Fashion Design. I moved to Paris at 18 to fully focus on that and COVID-19 sent me back to Atlanta, my hometown. I started to fall back into music, performing and dancing and healing my inner child. The universe was tugging me to fully focus on that and I’m so grateful and happy to be in a place today of living out my dreams of since I was a little girl. I’m absolutely in love with what I do and everything happens for a reason especially with the timing of things!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. I grew up in the dance studios in Atlanta, and my mom was raising me as a single mom. A lot of people in the studios and singing lessons included had to jump in and offer to train me for free until we got back on our feet. Which was absolutely SUCH a blessing that my mentors and instructors believed and invested in me so much from a little girl and saw something in me. I’m so grateful for the efforts of so many in the entertainment community in Atlanta for giving me such an amazing foundation that I can apply to where I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a singer/songwriter. I love music. I can’t imagine a life without it. It’s incredible to me that I adore something so much that’s a universal language. I love that connective aspect of it as well. I write all of my own songs, come up with my own concepts for visuals/music videos and choreography ideas/elements as well. I’m so in love with every aspect of creating. My brain functions that way in my day to day life anyways. I’ll write a song and can see a picture in my mind immediately. I write music to heal, to understand my life experiences. When I’m inspired. Same thing with dancing. I dance when I need to release. I dance when I’m happy, sad. It’s just such a natural thing for me. I’m so grateful that I get to do what I love each and every day. It’s truly a blessing.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans going into 2022 are to perform perform perform! I’m so incredibly excited to get out on the stage around Atlanta and other parts of the US. (Hopefully, Europe and other countries soon as well)! I can’t wait to put out more music and to build more of my team to really get out there more. May 2022 will be a year of releasing music for me which is super exciting. This is just the beginning!
