Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Geyer.
Hi Stacey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Ukraine and moved to the United States back in the 90s.
My love for art came from my early childhood. My father was a music teacher back in Ukraine and his love for music and art was reflected on me. I also studied music and art throughout my childhood and adulthood.
After moving to the United States, I started painting and experimenting with textures and variety of styles, and techniques. My artworks were showcased in various venues, galleries and exhibitions as well as featured in art magazines. Many of my paintings have been purchased by private collectors
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I always wanted to be a successful artist, someone who at least captures the viewer’s attention. Success comes with experience and it took me quite a bit of time to develop my technique. I’ve heard a lot of “no” answers along the way and still do. Unfortunately most galleries try to stay on trend and my art doesn’t always fit those parameters.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have my own style/ technique. I started out playing with different art mediums and it took over a decade to put it all together. I paint mostly abstract paintings with a hint of surrealism. I am not afraid of color, so you won’t see a lot of pale tones in my work. I put a lot of details in every painting so they look best when seen in person and not in photos. I am proud of what I’ve accomplished so far but I am still evolving as an artist and a human.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now I work from my house and I have limited space so the artworks are small scale. I am looking forward to getting into a studio one day to create some beautiful large scale projects.
