Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefan Hill.
Hi Stefan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Stefan Hill; I am a wardrobe stylist. I had always been into fashion & clothes growing up because I was raised heavily in church. So, my mom was always dressing me up every Sunday, and it was just instilled in me from her doing that since I was a kid. As I got older, the passion grew bigger, and I started styling friends for different events or gatherings we were going to. Then in 2019, I started my own styling business called Spruced. system, and that’s when my whole life changed. I was getting the attention of people that wanted me to style them reaching out to me via Instagram and Twitter based off the work I was posting on those platforms, along with the help of friends reposting my work as well. In addition, not too long after starting my business, I had the pleasure of meeting the top celebrity wardrobe stylist in Atlanta, Jeremy Haynes, aka therealnoigjeremy. And after that first encounter, I have been able to help make magic alongside him with the clients we work with!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A road to success and greatness always has its ups and downs. But I stick by the Bible verse Luke 12:48 “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” That has really kept me grounded over the years because a lot comes with this industry, I have lost friends along the way. But what I have also learned is what God doesn’t see or have fit for me, he lets it be known and detaches me from. In the past year, a major struggle was the death of my father, that impacted me to a point of I didn’t know if I wanted to confine with fashion because he always spoke so highly of me and bragged on me to friends and family. I picked up on his swag as well at an early age and apply it to myself when it comes to styling. But I realized that he wouldn’t want me to stop styling; he would want me to continue being great and pushing through, and that’s what I will continue to do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a wardrobe stylist to individuals such as Usher Raymond, Mary J Blige, Neyo, Monica, and many more. What I am most proud of is how much I have accomplished at a young age in the styling industry. With me only being 26 and have been able to be a part of the Super Bowl, Vegas residency, magazine covers and major tours I am shocked, but forever grateful that I have had the opportunity to be a part of them. The thing that sets me apart from others is my determination to continue to push through. Some people would have given up with all the things I have been through over the years, but I know that God’s purpose for my life doesn’t require me throwing in the towel. Being able to show up my best self for my clients is what matters the most to me, making sure they feel amazing and good for what the are about to be a part of or show up for. That is the best feeling when I know I have done my job to the best of my abilities and makes me proud.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I actually was booked and busy throughout the Covid-19 Crisis. I was working night and day, and I would say it taught me that you will make a way out of no way.
