Daily Inspiration: Meet Stephanie Maston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Maston.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, My name is Stephanie! And Steph & Spice is my little corner of the internet!

I’m the voice, author, and creator behind Steph & Spice. What started as a casual hobby just two years ago in 2020 during a pandemic while I was working as a supply chain coordinator has now grown into a full-blown business (!!) that reaches people of all kinds with fun recipes & content that even the kiddos love.

I live in Powder Springs, GA with my future fiancé Nick (also known as “Bougie-Bae”.) My favorite things in life are a nice slice of cheesecake, sunny days, and entertaining in our home.

In this space, I am always sharing fresh, flavorful recipes that I love to make and eat in my real, actual, everyday life. My goal is to inspire others with food that is both approachable AND exciting, whether they’re cooking for themselves, their family, or roommates & friends. I want people to be so excited about cooking that they eagerly await 5pm when they can go home from work and start cooking.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a “Food Blogger” has not always been the smoothest road, I must say.

A few challenges I have faced in his food blogging journey are: maintaining a website, writing content, & maintaining a social presence — all while working a full-time job.

Some days are better than others. I have found that planning days to post & creating content on the weekend have worked best for me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of my most proudest moments on the journey of food blogging was experimenting with different herbs & spices.

In the fall of 2021, I decided I would create my own spice blends to include Blackened, Cajun & Lemon Pepper. While this project took months, I was very determined and yet scared to see it through. From designing the labels to sampling & bottling with a co-packer, to shipping delays…..all was very worth the headache.

Making my own spice blends gave me complete freedom in how much or how little of a spice I wanted to include. Being that I come from a that has had its share of health scares with diabetes. I was able to create two blends that were salt-free (Cajun & Lemon Pepper). And of course, for those who love a kick of spice, there was my favorite, Blackened.

The trio was a hit amongst my family & friends. To this day, they are staple seasonings in our home. It’s my hope to create more blends in the near future, so stay tuned.

What does success mean to you?
I consider reaching both small and large milestones toward a goal as a success.

I view success as a process where challenges encourage me to look at things from different perspectives and to find creative solutions to problems. Facing those challenges helps me progress personally at the same time that I hopefully make progress toward my objectives. I can go to bed at night feeling successful as long as I have made some progress toward solving a problem or reaching a goal, even if I have not reached every personal goal at the end of the day.
