Daily Inspiration: Meet Tam Flowers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tam Flowers.

Tam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I attended college at Georgia State University. Living downtown and staying on campus allowed me to be introduced to some of the best hideaway restaurants Atlanta has to offer. I always recommend places for people to try, as you could probably imagine I was working with a college budget. I started blogging and created my own website to give deals of the day or happy hour spots that I felt were worth it. Then after graduating, I moved back home and started discovering more places on the East Side of Atlanta. I realized we were in the age of social media and Instagram wasn’t just to post selfies anymore. This isn’t the same Instagram where you had to comment your phone number on someone’s old picture. Instagram did a 180 and so did I. I created a food page called Ravenous Foodie. I named it Ravenous because one night I was thinking on how I could be different. I Googled synonyms for the word “hungry” and Ravenous stuck out to me. I now have grown my social media and transitioned to Tik Tok, where I now have over 1,000 followers and almost 2,000 on Instagram. I always tell people it doesn’t matter about your followers but about your engagement.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, the road wasn’t smooth at all it and created some anxiety along the way. I had a lot to learn about improving my social media platforms and then the pandemic hit. Everything was closed down and the world as we knew it wasn’t the same. So being a food blogger was kind of hard. I wasn’t consistent with posting and just had a dream that was blurry. I struggled with being consistent and engaging with my followers. I planned to correct this. I went from posting once a week to at least 3 times a week. I started doing “Keto Find Fridays” because I was on the keto diet and wanted to help people find snacks that were tasty. I had to create more reels and keep up with the latest trends. Even in the pandemic, I found a way to succeed because I ran out of excuses. I would post places that only allowed curbside, pick up or patio seating since not everyone was ok with being in the house.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a food blogger. I would say I specialize in finding affordable restaurants for date nights, brunch, and of course boba tea. I am proud of myself and my accomplishments. Although I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere, my work is now paying off and allowing me to grow my platform. I also have a support system that encourages me and provides me with me with feedback. I know people just want to see me win. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am willing to give my honest review and rating for a restaurant.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I typically use TikTok to edit my videos and canva to make any flyers I need.
