Hi Tasia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Tasia and my business name is TamedbyTayyy. I am a Licensed Cosmetologist, 6 yrs in the beauty industry. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, now based in Atlanta, Georgia. What drove me to start my career in beauty was my mother. She always has had a talent with doing hair but I was the one to actually apply it. I’m the youngest of 5 girls and i am now the hairstylist of my family. I started cosmetology school in 11th grade and i was licensed by June 2018, only 17 years old! From then until now I’ve grown clientele in my home town, experienced the suite life, being home based and many challenges that came with owning my own business, in which I wouldn’t trade that for anything! A year ago I recently got engaged to my Fiancé and relocated myself and my business to ATL. This journey has been challenging but yet an amazing humbling experience. As of now I’m still building my clientele here in Georgia, as an Home-based beautician (for right now) and every month my books are constantly growing with more and more clientele. I can’t wait to see where i will be 6 months from now! It’s only up from here!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course I’ve faced challenges. Nothing in life worth having comes easy! It’s all about how is it gonna stay maintained. Since relocating I’ve faced many more challenges than I’ve ever faced. Starting from the bottom up. I was so used to working day & night to barely working at all. Emotional breakdowns, feeling like I wasn’t doing enough to keep business afloat, feeling like no one will book me or notice me, financial challenges, doordashing 24/7, hard time finding a part time job just to have something coming in because bills don’t stop! Lol. Also I lost my car a few months ago due to a bad car accident, which was also a setback, but everything that I’ve faced this past year has been nothing but a learning experience as though everything also happens for a reason! In which these challenges has molded me to the young, strong growing woman I am today! I Thank God & my support system for never failing me, my Fiancé & parents!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Licensed Cosmetologist/Beautician. I specialize in natural hair and weave extensions. I’m known for keeping natural hair in the healthiest state. I’m most proud of how I can make my clients feel so confident & beautiful after leaving my chair. When you look good you feel good and I just love the boost of joy I can give my clients. What sets me apart from other stylists is I have great customer service & that I like to intimately get to know my clients, be a listening ear, therapist, calming and safe space all while beautifying and caring for their hair!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the culture, the people, the mannerism and it’s always something new to do! What i like least is the traffic and long distances and the bugs!!
