Daily Inspiration: Meet Tata Lawo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tata Lawo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began as a child, acting and preaching out the Sunday sermons after church that my mother made me go to often having no choice in the matter. The gift of clairaudience and clairvoyance came early after at least three near death injuries and accidents. One in particular where The African God Of Iron & War Ogun claimed my head on the railroads at eight years old in a bloody accident!!! It was literally at that moment the rootwork workers, readers and healers from my DNA came through. I was often told as a child not to say everything I thought, problem with that is I was only saying what the Ancestors were showing or telling me.

Often getting kicked out of school for saying things to my teachers and about adults I was not supposed to know. Growing up in Detroit, I needed the God Of Iron & War. By age sixteen, I came across a book about Santeria and was immediately told never to bring anything dealing with the occult in my mother’s home again. But it didn’t work. By that time, my Ancestors were already giving me spells and ways to protect myself from drugs, murders and dangerous Detroit streets. I learned the hard way about not listening to the Spirits. I started using bible scriptures to fight my enemies young. Hoodoo, rootwork it was in me no matter how much my family and friends tried to discourage me. By the mid and late 90s, I was initiated as a Priest in The Yourba Tradition as well as Palo Mayombe a Congo Tradition. and Lucumi I am ever so thankful for my Ancestors, My Baba and Yeye, my Padrino and Madrina My Haitian Vodou Godparents My Mama and Papa, my Elders and my beautiful Wife. I seek to use my spiritual gifts to help the hurting, defend the weak and guidance for those who can’t see clearly, Working daily to better myself and humanity. For the sake of Mother Earth and her children.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My obstacles were many. I have been brutally beaten as a child by gangs sick, fatherless, homeless and counted down and out for the count. A survivor of many of life’s atrocities at a time when there was no social medias to exposé them The crack epidemic of the eighties had every urban black and brown child at risk. It took time for me to understand that what was my current situation didn’t have to remain that way. I also stopped apologizing explaining and trying to convince people that the spirits were real!!! They help me survive a lot. Even the betrayal of those I trusted the most. What people must realize is that spirituality is not a one glove fit all. It’s not my job to convert people to think like I think but to help others find their path along the way whatever that may be. For all you good church folk out there Gods gifts come without repentance in other words, if you have the agility to do something, it’s up to you how you use it and the rest will be handled in the land of the ancestors or in the sweet bye and bye as the elders used to say back in my youth.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am Tata Lawo aka Lex Lavoe. I am a spiritual reader and worker clairvoyant and clairaudient. I’m an initiated traditional African Priest of 20years + practicing Yoruba and Congo belief systems, as well as rootwork, conjure work tarot readings. It is my mission to help you achieve spiritual clarity, balance and truth and direction and spiritual guidance in all areas of life. I am honest and extremely direct. I hear the ancestors and it is real you will know it. What most people don’t understand about spiritual readings is it’s not about what you want to hear but rather what do spirit have to say to you. I love the fact that spirits don’t need an outline from anyone they will show me and it will be the very situation you called about. I take no credit it is always the spirit. This workcraft has saved my life and others on many different occasions. I do this work with integrity and honesty. Not to make myself look powerful or hype myself up. Like I said it’s in DNA baby !!!.
