Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Thomas.
Tay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been very hands-on when it came to doing anything. Doing hair has always been a part of my life. Because of my dad, making sweets and food felt natural. Being creative and dipping my hands into different forms of creations are intriguing to me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, not at all. It’s hard to get people that you know and that you support to support you. It’s also hard to WANT something and feel very unsure of what exactly to do. That road isn’t always free of debris. It was also a battle trying to do things that I wasn’t necessarily interested in. Now, I’m going things that come easily to me and that I enjoy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a creator of many creations. I do hair, make desserts and decorate liquor bottles for special events. I specialize in many different departments that aren’t the same. I’m known for being the go to for a new do, bejeweling bottles for a celebratory event and dipping delicious berries! I’m most proud of myself for unlocking boundaries that I once allowed myself to never go beyond. I learn it, mold it and make anything my own. Creating dreams one creation at a time!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was an introvert but also an extrovert. I still am. I can be too myself but once comfortable enough, I’m the life of the party. Growing up and even to this day, I’m known as bossy. Realizing this made me realize, I needed to be my own boss more sooner than later.
