Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry Mcarthur
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Terry McArthur, a luxury streetwear designer from Daytona Beach, Florida, now living in Atlanta. My journey into fashion began in 2010 as a fashion photographer. My passion for design came in 2012 when I wasn’t able to capture the type of “look” I wanted to shoot, so I decided to make my own garments for my clients to shoot in. In 2012 although I was hesitant at first, my passion for creating bold and impactful menswear pushed me forward. In 2020 I started to challenge myself and create not only menswear but womenswear aswell. I created my brand, Success and Leisure, as a reflection of my vision for high-end streetwear that merges culture, style, and sophistication. My main goals with fashion are to provide representation for people of color, and to create safe spaces for all creatives over the world , through fashion.
Growing up in Florida and now living in Atlanta, I draw inspiration from both cultures to create designs that tell a story. Every challenge I’ve faced along the way has motivated me to stay focused on building a legacy for my family. Today, I’m confident in who I am as a designer and ready to make my mark.
My brand is about uplifting communities and individuals to go after their dreams, work hard , but to also take time and enjoy the fruits of their labor. # SuccessAndLeisure
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a Black designer from humble beginnings, my journey in the fashion industry has been anything but easy. Growing up in Daytona Beach, Florida, being raised by a single mother I didn’t have connections or access to many resources. I’ve faced some moments of being overlooked, underestimated, and doubted simply because of where I come from and the color of my skin. Breaking into luxury fashion, a space that isn’t always welcoming to Black designers, has required resilience, sacrifice, and an unshakable belief in my vision. I’ve had to work twice as hard to prove myself, navigating financial struggles, limited opportunities, and systemic barriers along the way. However, I am not ashamed of the things I endured. Yet, these challenges have shaped me, fueling my determination to succeed and build a legacy that inspires others like me to dream big and never give up.

I’m Terry McArthur, a luxury streetwear designer based in Atlanta. My brand, Success and Leisure, merges high-end luxury with the bold authenticity of streetwear. I’ve been designing since 2012, focusing on creating both menswear and womenswear collections. Right now, I’m especially excited about our upcoming Denim and Diamonds collection—it’s a big step in expanding into women’s fashion.
What sets me apart is the intention behind my designs. I come from Daytona Beach, Florida, and I’ve faced my share of challenges, but every piece I create reflects my journey, my culture, and my goal to build a legacy for my family. I pride myself on blending culture with storytelling, making designs that resonate on a deeper level.
I’m most proud of showing my line at New York Fashion Week and traveling to London—the fashion capital of the world. Those experiences not only validated the work I’ve put in but also showed me that my vision can hold its own on some of the biggest stages in fashion. Knowing that inspires me to keep pushing boundaries and creating pieces that leave a lasting impact.
