Daily Inspiration: Meet TiKamiProductions

Today we’d like to introduce you to TiKamiProductions

Hi TiKamiProductions , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
TiKamiProductions actually started off in my home. I used to throw house parties that were very official. On one occasion, one of my friends said to me “you should start charging people to be in here.” We had DJs, lighting, a dance floor, drinks– a really good time. Ever since that comment was made, a dream was born. My first official event was a boat party in Dominican Republic. Once I had the logo, I made some merch and that was the real start to the Tikami Brand. Soon after covid hit, but I knew it wouldn’t last forever. We were all stressed and needing an outlet for us to come together and have space to celebrate cultural and community. We started in Charlotte, then Atlanta, and now we have events all over the east coast. We are working towards being a global brand that travels worldwide.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course there have been challenges. This industry requires a lot of late nights, traveling, and time away from my family. Everything you do is a risk, so at the beginning there was a lot of lost money– even times when I wanted to quit and people told me I should quit. I chose not to focus on the money, and focus on building the brands recognition, a strong network, and creating consistency in my guest experiences. Now the challenges are moreso logistical as we consider what it means to expand. On top of building a business, I have to balance working my day job.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Professionally, I work for a leading worldwide Tech Company as a Senior Cloud Network Engineer.

What were you like growing up?
Funny, easy-going, smart, balanced– I understood that there was a time and place for everything. I was responsible enough to make sure I handled my priorities, but knew I had to have fun along the way.
