Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Nelson.
Hi Tori, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m an only girl and a baby of three boys. I grew up playing all sports but I loved fighting but I just wasn’t getting paid for it yet. I had 2 kids got married and moved to Northern Virginia. That’s where my ex told me I needed to do Boxing. We went to the gym and talked to the owner. He was like ok so what do you want out of this …I just wanted to hit something and lose weight. He asked me would I compete. I said if you pay me I will be a World Champion!! And the rest is History!! (Literally)
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely Not. It was NOT a smooth road for me. I was an older female in a young male sport. I had to pay to get on cards sometimes and fight for free just so I could fight. Smh it was very hard for females at the time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a 13x World Champion Professional Boxer. I specialize in whopping tail. I’m known for digging bodies and winning fights in 4 or 5 different weight classes in Boxing. I’m most proud of God for blessing me to be a 13x World Champion and a Boxing HALL of Famer… as a single mother with my 2 kids. I’m set apart from others because I started boxing at 29ys old. That’s very old for boxing. And I worked 3 jobs raised 2 kids alone with Jesus’ help all while I was Training Boxing and Winning fights. Also going up and down in weight classes just so I could get fights. That wasn’t easy.
Any big plans?
My future plans are to train young women to protect themselves also help others stay on shape. I also do speaking engagements about my story of never giving up even when the odds are ALL the way against you. God has the final say not Man. I’m looking forward to being the best Personal Trainer and Motivational Speaker I can ever be. Letting people know..it gets hard but you keep pushing and you’ll see the rough times was not in vain. My big changes are… I’m doing just what I wanted for my future Plans. Helping others, giving back, and Motivating others to do better and NEVER give up.
