Today we’d like to introduce you to Tristan Davis.
Hi Tristan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Boynton Beach, Florida then moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Georgia state university. From a young age, I was a shy and quiet girl. I would always clam up when I was asked simple questions. That was until cheerleading was introduced into my life. It may sound so clique, but this sport has made me who I am today. Throughout the self-discipline, selflessness, courage, teamwork, open-mindedness, and I could go on. Cheerleading has been one way that I opened my social presence to allow me to carry myself with such poise. I would be doing my family injustice if I didn’t say they did not push me mentally and sometimes physically to keep going. Confidence certainly did not grow overnight, but my mom and grandma made sure they were always attentive and set aside however long I needed to perfect it. All of the doubts and no’s have built tough skin to not seek for me but to create the best version of myself. At 19 years old seeing myself blossoming into a vibrant woman leading with love and leaving with love. Now that I have retired from cheerleading, I have chosen to apply the instilled hard work and determination I would put into my team to myself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am genuinely grateful to be blessed with the life I have. In everyone’s life, there will always be problems it’s just a matter of how diligently you choose to use your tools. Whether you smile and keep going or frown and feel like the universe is against you. Knowing that a seed has to destroy itself to become a flower ultimately. Knowing that not everything you do has to be self-improving. Learning to understand than to be understood.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I can be known for a couple of things like modeling, fashion, and social eminence figure and I specialize in making beaded body jewelry. At the young age of 17, I started my own jewelry business, Waiist.deep. Like many other people in 2020, I allowed my creativity and curiosity to bring me to a deeper understanding of what I wanted my legacy to mean to me and others. Meaning I started making pieces for myself, then friends and one stranger turned into two. Two quickly turned into a wonderful support system of over a hundred thousand people. At 17, I had no clue what my envisionment for Waiist.deep would be. It has been a very rough and beautiful road of ups and downs. When you turn a hobby into your life work, it is easy to fall out of love with your craft. Over the years, I’ve made my business very transparent through products used- to a safe mental health space. It is easy for people to force and fix you into boxes but always know there isn’t shame in letting yourself fall. You are not your emotion. I proudly represent a self-made brand with genuine potency, mistakes, and love overflowing from all directions.
