Daily Inspiration: Meet Veronica Harrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Harrell.

Hi Veronica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got my start in radio in my hometown of Detroit. I began doing News at a station in Lansing, MI. I soon became a News Anchor/Morning Show Co-host at Legendary R&B station WGPR in Detroit. I reside in Atlanta and can be heard daily on Cox Media Group stations, 95.5 WSB, Kiss 104.1, & Channel 2 Action News/WSBTV. Also, I co-host a podcast called Dope Therapy, which is available on all streaming platforms, such as Apple, Amazon, and Spotify.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. It could have been a smoother ride. One of the biggest challenges I faced was believing in myself. People would tell me I “talk funny” and should not be on the radio. I overcame those voices and insecurity to get to where I am today. I am thankful for what I have gone through because it made me stronger.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a traffic reporter for Metro Atlanta. You may have heard my voice Monday through Friday during the morning/midday drive on Kiss 104.1 & 95.5 & on Sunday morning with Sophia Choi on Channel 2 Actions News. I am the smooth voice that helps navigate you through crazy ATL traffic. In addition, I am the co-host of The Dope Therapy Podcast. I host alongside Mike Gray, Stephanie Dawn, and Kevin Pressley. Our podcast is different because it reminds folks of a Morning Talk show without all of the commercial interruptions. So, you get the latest news and stories that impact our community. We also give a voice to small business owners and independent artists trying to make it in the music industry. And most of all, we make you laugh because we are like a family who comes together once a week to make our audience forget about their issues. I am proud of all my accomplishments, especially those with Dope Therapy.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important thing I have learned during my journey is to have patience and to trust yourself.
