Daily Inspiration: Meet Viviana Giraldo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana Giraldo.

Hi Viviana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I remember that when I was seven years old in Medellin-Colombia, I used to get a hold of my mother’s make-up. I’ll never forget once I put some of her lipstick on in front of a mirror. I felt like a grown-up and so happy. Every time I went to the supermarket with my parents, I stopped on the magazine section to peek at the fashion magazines while they shopped. Once I became a finance professional, my coworkers, family and friends always admired my fashion style and makeup, but I was still unaware of how makeup will turn out to be my passion. That was until one of my coworkers asked me why wasn’t I studying something beauty related. This led me to start taking makeup classes. From the beginning, I felt a total connection with make-up and skin care. From then on my coworkers always asked me to apply their makeup for any important event.

Later on, I fell in love and moved to Miami, where I also took additional classes and applied that knowledge during events and photoshoots. After five years of living there, I moved to Georgia where I’m currently residing and continuing with my passion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had a challenging road, living in another country far from my family, learning another language. This path involves hard work and long days, often in fields other than the beauty industry. But I’ve never lost my focus on make-up. There have been times where I could only sleep three hours to then go on an early make-up session, but I’ve always put my heart into the work at hand. When I finally started working with a cosmetics company, I had to undergo an urgent surgery. I had to stop my work for months and reject big projects as I was recovering. These were tough moments, but I always had faith in God that I would prevail. When you love what you do your willingness to continue and fight for your dreams does not abate.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now I’m living in Georgia, working freelance. I’m a facial specialist and work in wedding, editorial and TV make-up. I’m very proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish so far. My work has been published in magazine covers, I participated in Miami Swim Week ’18, worked with one of the most recognized European cosmetic brands (KIKO Milano), and I’ve done make-up for models and TV presenters.

I strive to create a relaxed environment where my customers feel full of harmony, energy and self-assurance so that at the end of the session they feel renovated. I share with them my skincare knowledge and advise them on what products should they use according to their skin type.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I like to work on environments with time limitations, I love the adrenaline rush of speed and that’s why I love extreme activities, like parachute jumping, roller-coasters and the like.
