Daverine Myers shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Daverine, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day for me can start as early as 4 AM or as late as 8 AM. I usually begin with devotion and prayer, and sometimes I’ll fit in a morning workout. After that, I make breakfast, check my emails, follow up with clients, and create or post content for my Instagram page. The rest of the day often includes running errands—restocking, shopping, cleaning, or organizing my catering supplies from the last event. I also spend time planning for the days and weeks ahead, creating new menus, and working on ongoing projects. Some days I’ll unwind by reading a book or watching a movie, but most of the time I’m either preparing for the next event or taking a little time for myself to recharge.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Daverine Myers, the owner and creative force behind Myers Gourmet Kitchen LLC, a boutique-style catering company based in Atlanta. I specialize in creating elevated dining experiences that blend comfort, flavor, and style—whether it’s an intimate dinner, a luxury brunch, or a full-scale event. What makes my brand unique is the personal touch and creativity that goes into every menu. I don’t just cook; I curate experiences that bring people together through food and presentation.
My journey started from a genuine love of cooking and hosting, and over time it’s grown into a business that reflects who I am—intentional, passionate, and committed to excellence. I’m always working on new ways to elevate my clients’ experiences, from custom menu design to seasonal offerings that keep things fresh and exciting. Myers Gourmet Kitchen isn’t just about great food—it’s about creating moments that feel unforgettable.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think bonds between people are often broken by a lack of trust, honesty, or communication. When expectations aren’t clear or someone feels unheard or undervalued, it can create distance quickly. What restores bonds is openness, accountability, and genuine love—showing care, understanding, and respect for each other. Sometimes it’s as simple as a heartfelt conversation, an apology, or consistently showing up and keeping your word.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
A little over five years ago, I decided to stop settling for people, spaces, and situations that didn’t value me or support my growth. I realized my worth, my resilience, and my strength, and I chose to pour all that energy back into myself. I focused on building the life I wanted—getting to know myself, pursuing my passions, growing my business, and creating the independence and stability I deserved. Turning that pain into purpose became my power.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
“You have to follow trends to succeed.”
While trends can be fun, chasing every trend often dilutes your brand and authenticity. Standing out comes from doing what you do best and putting your own spin on it.
“We can’t charge premium prices because clients won’t pay.”
This is common in boutique catering and small-scale hospitality. The truth is, people will pay for an elevated, personalized experience — it’s about positioning your value, not undervaluing your service.
“The industry often tells itself that hospitality is easy or anyone can do it.”
Many underestimate the planning, timing, precision, and emotional labor required to create truly memorable experiences. It’s much harder than it looks, and those who excel treat it as both an art and a science.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, my customers would miss the food and the vibe. It’s about more than just the dishes—it’s the experience and energy that make every event memorable.
