Exploring Life & Business with Bria Booker of Blazin Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Booker.

Hi Bria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child, my mother was always showing me new ways to craft. Throughout my adolescent years, I always wanted to contribute something original to my style. Growing accessories played a big part in my life. I love jewelry so much I began making earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. Now, I have started a business creating customized accessories for those who want special items made for their style. I got my LLC for my business during the pandemic and I have been thriving ever since. My clientele started off as just family and friends. As I posted more jewelry, more people became interested in my business and what I was creating. It took a lot of time and patience to get to where I am. My peers played a big role, I’m the expansion of my business because of the grand support I get through social media.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey wasn’t such a clear path. I had to stop and start from the drawing board many times. I had many ideas in mind for my business, however, I had to modify things so they best fit me and others. Some struggles consisted of not buying proper materials and having to do things over and over in order to see which materials worked best for products. It was also harder during the pandemic because some orders would take longer to ship out and when purchasing items online, it took longer to receive them, slowing business down.

We’ve been impressed with Blazin Beauty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I make custom bracelets and other customized jewelry such as necklaces and waistbeads. When I first began my business, I started with ‘freestyle Fridays.’ Customers would tell me the color of their choice and I would simply freestyle with the colors given. My freestyles became very popular and I began receiving many compliments and clients over time. I’m most of myself for not giving up during the pandemic. At times it became very hard to conduct business, but I never let it slow me down. I also participated in a pop-up shop, which was a big step out of my comfort zone. Although many can make bracelets, I feel what sets me apart from other individuals is that I get to know the customer before making their jewelry. I find it easier to make freestyle by getting to know customers first. It helps to make jewelry that best fits them and their personality.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice would be to never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Networking and promoting your business takes a lot of confidence and time. However, in the long run, it will be very beneficial to your business. You will experience more and introduce yourself to many different opportunities. Pop up shops have worked well for me. Bracelets can be made for all ages and pop-up shops are great marketing opportunities. Having business cards is also another great investment.
