Exploring Life & Business with Alisa King of Cushgigs Virtual Services LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisa King.

Hi Alisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story is one of teaching, resilience, and turning passion into purpose. I’ve always been a lifelong learner and someone who thrives on helping others see the possibilities within themselves. Before I launched Cushgigs, my career was rooted in business and education. I earned my MBA in Human Resource Management and later transitioned into teaching high school CTAE Business Pathway. Working with teenagers taught me something powerful: people at every stage of life crave clarity, confidence, and strategy to turn their ideas into something real.

While teaching, I started to notice a gap. Students, professionals, and even other educators had amazing talents and passions, but they struggled to figure out how to channel those gifts into income, freedom, or long-term impact. That’s where the idea for the Profit Pathway was born. At first, it was simply me offering curriculum design and side-hustle coaching. But the more I worked with people, the clearer it became that they didn’t just need resources, they needed a framework, a roadmap, and someone to help them cut through the overwhelm.

Cushgigs grew into that solution. It’s a hybrid of consulting, education, and digital empowerment. We specialize in helping entrepreneurs and creators build passion-based businesses by starting with self-awareness: Who are you? What strengths do you bring to the table? From there, we layer in vision, mission, and actionable strategy so that clients can move from “idea” to “income.” I designed signature workshops like the Mission & Vision Strategy Workshop and tools like the Goal Getter’s Journal & Planner and my book Strategize Your Side Hustle. These resources combine psychology, business strategy, and hands-on exercises to make sure people don’t just dream big they execute.

The name Cushgigs reflects the mission: creating “cushy” opportunities where your gifts actually work for you, not against you. Over time, I’ve expanded beyond just coaching. Cushgigs now operates as a platform with online courses, guided journals, and AI-powered business tools that simplify what can otherwise feel complicated. The focus is always the same helping educators, service professionals, and multi-skilled entrepreneurs design a life and business that’s aligned, profitable, and sustainable.

I got to where I am today by blending my love for teaching with my entrepreneurial drive. I’ve navigated the challenges of launching businesses, balancing a teaching career, writing books, and constantly learning new technologies. Every pivot, every lesson learned, became a part of Cushgigs’ DNA. Today, Cushgigs represents not just my story, but the stories of the people I serve those who are ready to stop second-guessing and start building.

At the heart of it all, my journey has been about proving that you don’t have to choose between purpose and profit. You can have both and Cushgigs exists to show people how.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would love to say it’s been a smooth road, but the truth is, building Cushgigs has been full of learning curves. Entrepreneurship looks glamorous from the outside, but behind the scenes, it takes a lot of grit, patience, and faith. One of the biggest challenges early on was balancing my role as a full-time educator with my vision for Cushgigs. I was teaching, grading papers, advising student organizations, and still trying to carve out time to write books, create journals, and design a platform from scratch. Learning how to manage my energy and not just my time was critical.

Another challenge has been the tech overwhelm that many small business owners face. When I first started, I thought success meant having every software, every subscription, and every marketing tool. That mindset created more confusion than clarity. Eventually, I had to step back, streamline, and build a lean tech stack that supported my vision instead of draining it. That experience is actually what shaped Cushgigs’ approach, helping entrepreneurs cut through the noise and focus on what actually drives results.

Financial risk has also been part of the journey. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve had to make tough calls about investing in my own development, reinvesting in the business, and sometimes sacrificing short-term comfort for long-term growth. Add to that the internal challenges, imposter syndrome, moments of doubt, and wondering if I was moving fast enough and it’s clear the road has not been without obstacles.

But every setback has been a setup for growth. The challenges taught me how to be resourceful, how to lean into my strengths, and how to turn struggles into systems I could later teach others. Cushgigs was built on those lessons. That’s why I tell my clients that the bumps in the road don’t disqualify you, they actually qualify you to lead, because you’ve been through the process yourself.

Cushgigs Virtual Services LLC is more than just a business, it’s a launchpad for educators, service professionals, and multi-skilled entrepreneurs who want to turn their passions into profit. At our core, we help people take what they already know, love, and do well, and transform it into digital products, courses, or services that actually sell.

We specialize in vision and strategy workshops, curriculum and instructional design, and entrepreneurship coaching. What we’re really known for is simplifying what often feels overwhelming, whether that’s setting up an online course, mapping out a business idea, or creating a tech stack that won’t break the bank. Our signature tools include the Mission & Vision Strategy Workshop, the Goal Getter’s Journal & Planner, and my books like Strategize Your Side Hustle. Each resource is designed to give people both clarity and a step-by-step path forward.

What sets us apart is our philosophy: we don’t just push hustle culture, and we don’t just talk theory. We blend psychology, education, and business strategy so that people gain self-awareness first, then we help them align that with a profitable offer. In other words, we teach you how to build a business around who you are instead of forcing yourself into someone else’s blueprint. That’s why our tagline is all about moving from Clarity to Cash™.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how consistent Cushgigs has been about purpose and profit going hand-in-hand. Every product, workshop, or tool we create is meant to empower people with not just ideas, but action steps. Our readers and clients should know that Cushgigs is a community as much as it is a company. We’re here to demystify the process of launching, give you the structure to stay accountable, and celebrate with you when your vision becomes reality.

In short, Cushgigs is where strategy meets soul. We help you create a business that feels good, does good, and earns well.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is seeing transformation, whether it’s in my students, my clients, or even in myself. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about watching someone go from confusion to clarity, or from doubting themselves to boldly stepping into their purpose. That spark of confidence when they realize “I can actually do this” is priceless to me.

I also find happiness in creating, writing books, designing journals, or building workshops that help people move forward. Creativity is my outlet, and every time I develop something that resonates with others, it feels like I’m walking in alignment with my purpose.

On a personal level, I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by my loved ones, enjoying simple moments of connection. For me, happiness isn’t about perfection, it’s about growth, impact, and living in a way that blends both purpose and joy.
