Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Let’s see!! Where do I start. My story is pretty inspiring and motivating. In 2017, I started having unexpected health issues that came out of nowhere one day while at work at my Healthcare job. I started experiencing burning and tangling sensations throughout my body, me I’m just thinking it’s stress related from the job. This went on for almost a year, countless doctors visits, countless tests and still no one had a clue what was going on which just caused me to be filled with all types of emotions and stress. It got to the point where it took me hours just to get out of bed in the morning. Finally, I found a Doctor that cared a little more than the Doctors I saw previously and he decided to run more test and Boom it came back days later that I had Lupus which is an autoimmune disease that can attack any part of your body. I was placed on several prescription medications one being steroids that cause me to gain over 40lbs and that just lead to depression and a sense of uncertainty.
I found myself in a really dark placed and I hated it. No one knew what I was going through and I could barely explain what I was going through. I knew I had to get myself together and get out of that state. That’s when I turned to fitness as my therapy which helped a lot. I grew to love fitness and wanted to make that a part of my everyday life. Fitness turned into a complete lifestyle change and the ability to start helping others that may be going through the same struggles I went through and still go through. Lupus is so unpredictable one day I can be perfectly fine and next day I can’t get out the bed however I still push myself to get up and be the best version of myself. Shape It Up Sis LLC was founded to help women like me, who may be going through health issues, depression, or just need some motivation to start taking better care of themselves.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting and running a business is never a smooth road, lol. and if anyone tells you differently it’s just simply not true. I started Shape It Up Sis in 2017 and I still have struggles however everything is trial and error and that’s how we grow. Your not always gonna have wins but that’s a part of the struggle. I’m really passionate about my brand so I’m willing to go through the struggles if that’s gonna to help me to elevate to the next level in business.

We are a fitness and wellness brand specializing in helping women become the best version of themselves. We help women on their weight loss journey however Shape It Up Sis is not just about fitness. It’s about helping women overcome life’s challenges. It’s about helping women physically and mentally. Mental illness is real, believe me I know. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. My life challenges is what inspired my brand and I have helped so women all over the world become more comfortable in their skin physically and mentally. We truly pride ourselves in helping women and we are known for just that on top of our amazing products that we offer that have helped so many women lose weight and have more mental clarity. What sets me apart from others is not worrying about others and whether or not they will support what I’m doing. I do this with passion and believe I add real value to people’s lives and that makes me proud. I got to where I am at business-wise by doing a lot of research, studying and really just believing in what I am doing. If you don’t believe in what you are doing you are not going to succeed.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I will have to say, recognize your strengths and weaknesses. Start with a simple business plan and grow it as needed. May sure you focus on something you have a passion for and not just doing it because someone else is doing it. Understand your target customers and existing market and don’t be afraid to ask for help
