Exploring Life & Business with Andrea Rodriguez of Adohi Cabin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Rodriguez

Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Andrea, and I’ve been lucky to call this beautiful country home since 2011. I was born in Argentina into a family of entrepreneurs, and I grew up surrounded by art—literally! My dad owned an art gallery, so my world was always filled with colors, textures, and creativity. That artistic influence shaped me, and to this day, I find joy in creating—whether it’s decorating, painting, knitting, or any kind of hands-on project. It’s my therapy, my happy place.

I’m married to the love of my life, and together we have two sons who are my world. They teach me something new every day, and their perspective on life constantly inspires me. I’m so grateful for the lessons they’ve brought into my life.

A few years ago, I found myself dreaming—perhaps even obsessing—about owning a cabin in North Georgia. I envisioned a place to escape the chaos, reconnect with nature, and channel my creativity into something real and tangible. Then, in January 2020, the perfect cabin seemed to appear at just the right moment. We closed the purchase, filled with excitement and anticipation, but just a couple of months later, the world came to a screeching halt. The pandemic hit, and we were suddenly faced with an unknown, terrifying reality. For a moment, we questioned everything—had we made a terrible mistake? In that instant, we felt lost, adrift in a world that was spinning into uncertainty.

But after weeks of isolation and uncertainty, my husband and I made a decision. We took a leap of faith, packed up, and drove to the cabin. What followed was a transformative six-month journey of renovation. I poured my heart and soul into every detail, blending boho, modern, rustic, and luxurious styles to create a space that felt uniquely ours. I believe that spaces hold energy, and when you step into the cabin, you can feel the love, the creativity, and the passion we invested in it. The tranquility of the mountains only enhances that magic, making it a sanctuary not just for our bodies, but for our spirits as well.

Nestled in the hills of Sautee Nacoochee—just 9 minutes from the charming Alpine town of Helen, GA, 5 minutes from Unicoi State Park, and 18 minutes from Lake Burton—our tiny cabin became the perfect escape to unplug and recharge.

What started as a personal dream soon turned into something bigger. We decided to share our little slice of heaven with others, opening it up as a ST rental, and the response was incredible. From day one, we’ve heard the most heartwarming stories—couples reconnecting, celebrating anniversaries, and even proposals happening in the cabin. Solo travelers using the space to write, practice yoga, or just find peace. Knowing that this place is part of someone’s special moments is the most rewarding feeling.

In 2021, we took another leap and opened a second, twin cabin right next door. Expanding was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions we ever made. Now, we get to welcome even more guests and hear their incredible stories. This journey has been amazing, and it still feels like it’s only just beginning.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been anything but smooth, but I think that’s what makes it so rewarding. Taking on a cabin renovation with no prior experience was already a challenge, but doing it in the middle of a global shutdown added a whole new level of uncertainty. There were moments of doubt—times when we felt in over our heads, exhausted from long weekends of trial-and-error renovations. But we kept pushing forward, one project at a time.

Another challenge was simply stepping into the world of hospitality. We had no background in short-term rentals, so there was a lot to learn—how to create an unforgettable guest experience, manage bookings, and handle the behind-the-scenes details that go into running a successful rental. But every challenge came with a lesson, and looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.

One of the biggest surprises was how emotionally invested I’d become. This isn’t just a rental—it’s a space filled with love, memories, and a little piece of my heart. So, naturally, I take every detail personally! But seeing the joy it brings to our guests makes every obstacle worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Adohi Cabin?
Adohi Cabin is a peaceful retreat nestled in the heart of North Georgia’s mountains. What sets us apart is the experience we offer. We’ve created an inviting, cozy atmosphere where rustic charm meets modern luxury. Every corner of both cabins has been thoughtfully designed with love, combining boho, rustic, and modern elements to make them feel like true homes away from home.

I’m especially proud that Adohi Cabin is a family business. My husband and I do everything together—from the renovations to the day-to-day operations. It’s a true labor of love, and we believe that energy is reflected in every detail. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, our goal is to help you feel refreshed, inspired, and connected to nature.

I’m most proud of how our cabins have become sanctuaries for our guests—a place where they can relax, recharge, and create lasting memories. Ultimately, we want everyone who stays with us to feel the magic of the mountains and the creativity that fills our cabins.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for anyone starting a business is to remember that success isn’t just about the numbers or hitting specific goals—it’s about staying true to yourself. Trust your instincts, follow your dreams, and embrace the journey. There will be challenges along the way, but if you’re connected to your passion and purpose, those obstacles will feel more like opportunities. Stay authentic, trust the process, and know that when you’re aligned with what truly matters to you, everything else will fall into place.
