Hi antoine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started this company in April of 2011 as a Carpet & Upholstery cleaning service based out of Lawrenceville Georgia. I was a one man operation, handling the marketing, servicing, building of the business. Before starting this company I worked for a company by the name of The Berry Company. My position while working there involved sales. I would sell digital & print Marketing solutions to small businesses throughout the southeast. I did this for 3 years and earned the honors of becoming one of the top sales reps in the region. I soon realized that it was time to move onward to work for myself again because I always knew that working for someone else was not the answer. About 2013 I eventually grew the business to a point that it was time to hire some help & I eventually hired one of my high school buddies Vincent Alexander. Vincent and I both are from Buffalo New York and went to the same High School and knew each other however we did not hang in the same circle of friends. Vincent is a retired Army Veteran who is very detailed and meticulous, he was a perfect fit! He has been a true Blessing in helping Carpet Transformers in becoming what it is today. I trained Vincent how to properly service carpet, upholstery, & floors. He is a natural talent when it comes to customer service. A few years later as Carpet Transformers start making a name for itself in our industry, I started to think of ways to be different than the likes of Zerorez, Stanley Steamer etc. I decided to expand into the areas of water mitigation/mold remediation. I took some class & earned my IICRC certification. Well then things really started to take off for us and one thing let to another. We then grew from 1 truck to 3 trucks & it was time to add more help, so I brought my wife onboard although she was always here to support me from day 1, but know in a more hands on role as an administrator & whatever else that was needed. About 2019 I attended a Small Business workshop that was very enlightening with a wealth of information as it pertains to the development of small business. During this time I had a vision. My vision was to become a complete flooring solution. So I wanted to separate ourselves from all of the other carpet cleaning companies that only cleaned carpets! What if we can Clean, Sell, & install Carpets & Flooring? Wouldn’t this separate us from all the other companies? A complete game changer! So we started marketing those services as well & we started getting more & more business. Many of our existing customers as well as inquiries did not know that we had offered New Carpet & Flooring sales & installation services due to the fact that our name was Carpet Transformers. I set up a focus group to brain storm on how we could change the name without changing our brand so that the new name would tell people who we are & what we do. So I came up with Carpet & Flooring Transformers. Our Slogan “We are Your Complete Flooring Solution”. From 2019-2022 we sold carpet & flooring simply by bringing samples out to peoples homes & doing presentations. February 2022 I just so happened to be taking my normal route home and was driving on highway 78 east and could not help but notice that 1943 main street suite A was now vacant! For 20 years or so there had been a carpet & flooring store there and it was no longer there! God is always Good! I stopped immediately to inquire about the vacancy and got in touch with the Landlord who mentioned that he had not advertised the vacancy yet but had at least 7 inquiries. He asked what type of business was i considering and I told him a carpet & flooring store and the rest is history. We have been in this location April 2023….We have several sub-contractors that we use in our installations and are doing quite well! To God Be the Glory we believe in taking care of the customers! We are a 5 star rated company across all platforms Google, BBB, Yelp, etc.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Transitioning from a carpet cleaning company to now a complete flooring solution has had some challenges in that some people don’t take us serious or experienced long enough in the areas of flooring experts, however I have over 30 years experience as a flooring installer. I have over 30 years experience in customer service. I have over 40 years in serving my Lord and Savior so we apply our Christian Values in all that we do.
