Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbie Vyas.
Bobbie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I hail from Georgia by way of Queens, New York. When I was 17, my mom knew there was more opportunities for my brother and I in Georgia. And as a single parent, she always contemplated the idea of more for her children. So off we went! And she was right. It is in Georgia where I attended college, graduate school, got my start working in mental health for vulnerable populations, where I met my stubborn yet lovely husband, where we had our extraordinary daughter, where I found my purpose as a Growth Mindset Cultivator and Coach.
But somewhere in my journey to my purpose, I realized I was really afraid. Actually, I was seemingly afraid of everything: people, places, and things. I remember as a kid, my mom having to make me go outside and play. I thought everything and anyone was going to hurt me. And I internalized……and internalized… and Internalized. It was the fear of the unknown that plagued me. And when I started to say no to opportunities, I knew it was time to change. My comfort zones I created abused my dreams, my grit, and my purpose. I knew I had to address the fear and call it to the front.
Then, I begin to show up for my life and myself. I begin to have brave conversations and set boundaries. I begin to explore positivity and gratitude in depth. I begin to dive into the concept of limiting beliefs and the mechanisms driving those potential-capping beliefs. And as if inevitable and eventual, that led me to growth mindset. I needed to understand what it is, what it can be. I begin to reject comparing myself to others and adopting a mentality of being brave everyday. Then I begin to soar. I found my tribe- individuals to cheer me on and hold me accountable. All of these things brought me here, to a present with endless possibilities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Gosh, smooth road? Nah, it hasn’t been smooth. But I realized, thoughts become things and my reality is what I make it out to be.
A lot of my struggles were internal and I am overcomING. I battle to obliterate all fear that doesn’t serve me, I am taking the caps off my limitless potential daily. I was operating from a deficit perspective.
Yes, there were times where I thought I wanted to be and do be everything to everyone in order to be/feel worthy and I burned out and because resentment and angry that my expectations weren’t met. But, it was me that hadn’t set the boundaries up. It was me that hadn’t had the brave conversations with others and most importantly, myself. I wasn’t in tuned with my star player.
Yes, there has been times where I wanted to just stop, stop pushing, to give up and go back to what’s comfortable. And God reminded me that while he is handling my purpose, I need to handle my business. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart and self-development is not for quitters.
Yes, there has been times where it felt like it was going nowhere fast, where I had to conversations like “just because I work from home, it doesn’t mean I’m not working.”
As I grow towards and more into my purpose, it will not be just people who challenge, it will be “principalities and powers.” Because me fully walking in my purpose would mean service, help. And sometimes, I need to shown what’s at stake if I don’t show up.
Yes, there have been times where I had 0 clients and no income in sight. And I still had to show up to develop myself and my craft. My gift will make room for me.
So, no my road has not been smooth.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
With BobbieKay Virtual Consulting, I transform the limiting beliefs of women entrepreneurs and some men as well. I empower women entrepreneurs to obliterate the fears (fear of failure, fear of being judged, fear of change, fear of loosing it all) in order to show up in their businesses and their lives boldly while grabbing up some life fulfillment. I specialize in Growth Mindset- the belief system based on the principles of effort and not outcome; learning for the sake of learning and removing the limitations off of your potential, aptitude, achievement, and capacity. Growth Mindset says I will learn and engage when setbacks occur, that there is no such thing as failure because it’s all learning. I am passionate and over-the-moon excited to have found Growth Mindset as it changed the game on how I think and process information so I can win through learning and engagement. And it’s a beautiful and humbling thing to help others do the same.
I help in a few different capacities within my business:
1: Fear Masterclass where I show step by step to overcoming, transforming, and obliterating fear to be able to show up and honor the U in you.
2.: “Call It to the Front” Growth Mindset Mapping Workshop where for three days, up to 2 hours per day, we go through the fear that is stopping you, implement my Growth mindset framework to get a growth mindset to help you show up and win.
3: Growth Mindset Coaching where we look at in real-time the fixed-mindset triggers (“What if I try and fail,” “what will they think?” “I need to wait for the perfect time,” “ I can’t believe I made that mistake l, I’m awful.”) that stops your progress and grow our negative belief systems. And implement my growth mindset framework to redirect and reform those beliefs into beliefs that compliment your greatness.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Wow, that’s a powerful question. And luck (leaving things to chance) has played absolutely NO role in my business. Like in my life, I have to show up and apply the effort to move the needle in increasing my business and fulfilling my purpose. I have to be brave today and everyday.
