Today we’d like to introduce you to Cora Sanfilippo.
Hi Cora, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am 21 years old and a senior at Georgia Southern University. I launched my business, Luvher Boy, in January 2020. I was stressed about my future, not knowing what I wanted to do after college, and that’s when the idea to start Luvher Boy came to me. I discussed my idea with my dad and we both decided that this could go somewhere. After that moment, I got on Youtube and started researching anything and everything on how to start a business. I was on TikTok, I was messaging people on Instagram, and I was watching Youtube videos for hours. Though my major in college is business, I was never taught exactly how to start a business of my own.
Throughout the whole process, the hardest part was choosing the name which you would think would be the easiest. I wanted the name to be unique and something I could later on trademark. The idea for the name came from one of my favorite accessories, a baker boy hat. I would wear one with every outfit if I could. Thus the name Luvher Boy came to be. I wanted to make the spelling unique and create a juxtaposition in the name, with the idea in mind to create a brand out of the name in the future. Just last month, I reached my one year of owning my business. So far, I have hosted ten trunk shows, done over fifty photoshoots, and recently got the chance to sell my clothes in a brick-and-mortar store.
The next step for Luvher Boy is creating a brand out of the name. I want Luvher Boy to be a brand that is desired and has a unique image to it. To achieve this, I want to create a lifestyle brand. That would include a mix of wholesale and custom pieces. Turning Luvher Boy from a name to a lifestyle would create an exclusive shopping experience. All of those long nights and early mornings have gotten me to this point, but it’s time to take Luvher Boy to the next level. It’s time to create a brand, a signature look, and something for the cool girls.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I have faced many challenges from startup/continuation costs to a lack of support from people closest to me. I do believe all of these challenges only force me to work harder. When the going gets tough, I always say, what can I do on my end to work harder and get more creative. That normally pushes me to think outside the box, and always is better in the end for myself and the business.
We’ve been impressed with Luvher Boy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
If someone were to ask what is special about Luvher Boy, I would say the hard work and love on the backend that goes into each and every order/task with owning the business. I am always looking for ways to improve the business and be more environmentally friendly. I truly do a little happy dance when I get an order, it makes me so happy to see my dreams come true with each and every order. I just want everyone to know how thankful I am whenever someone simply likes a post or shares my hard work with a friend. It all means the world, and I can’t say thank you enough.
What are your plans for the future?
Currently, my plans are to graduate this May of 2022 from Georgia Southern with a degree in Economics and a minor in Finance. From there, I will move home for a year and grow the business by working on it daily as well as having a part-time job. It is a dream to do this full-time and that is what I am working towards each and every day.
