Exploring Life & Business with Dominique Pierce of Naturally You

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Pierce.

Hi Dominique, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Naturally You was designed originally as a weekend retreat in 2017 for elementary school-aged girls, in an effort to foster a healthy foundation of support and self-knowledge. Over the weekend, participants will take part in sessions aimed at self-love, self-esteem building, mindfulness, health and wellness, financial responsibility, friendship, small business seminars and more! The hope is they will leave with a better understanding of how to be truly themselves and begin to understand their purpose in life, their family, and amongst their peers. They are smart, kind, beautiful, important queens every day of the year. Naturally You Retreat is just their yearly reminder. Happily, we are moving to year-round involvement! There will be virtual building sessions, tutoring, contests, weekend virtual social events, accountability queen connections and more!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Happily Naturally You has been supported well by the community and our attendance has increased yearly. The biggest challenges continue to be time management as I continue to work full time as I manage this 501c3. I would love to have more time to research funding and other opportunities for growth but it has not been easy to find any with everything I have going on daily.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
THE MISSION, THE PROMISE, THE GOAL… Creating confident, prepared Queens by teaching them how to love themselves and their community through intentional lessons, love, and connection. The thing I hear echoed through the conversation of the women whom I have had the pleasure to cross paths with is, “I wish I knew when I was younger that…”. We often see communities who are able to send their children into the world with funding, businesses, etc right after college but in communities of color, that is not the consistent narrative. Naturally You promise to stand in that gap by providing vital life and love lessons as early as elementary schools to prepare this population for life. With these skills and life long connections, what they will be transitioning into adulthood with, will provide them with a beautiful and sustainable head start.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
