Today we’d like to introduce you to Donavan Morgan.
Donavan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started by owning a sales and marketing company, “Goats4Sales”, with my co-worker at the time Daniel Fillippelli. After seeing the demand for recruiting quality salespeople. We were offering services to other industries and grew a niche in the roofing industry. After seeing the success we were able to provide for others and having discrepancies with pay with my previous roofing company, I believed that we could do this on our own and at a higher level as far as values & quality. Hard work and dedication are what has made us so successful thus far.
I also believe that me genuinely feeling like Roofs By Don is going to be the only roofer the average household knows forces me and my company to make moves that the “best known roofer” would do. Lebron James plays basketball and through that, he was able to land a deal with Nike, with us we have done something equivalent with IKO which is roofing materials manufacture. We’ve also shot some footage with HGTV’s David Bromstad, a panelist for roofing conferences being in business for less than a year, so I feel like it’s positioning us to be exactly what we are aiming for.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. However, with every problem, we always come up with a solution. So, with all the obstacles, it only helps us become a better company. The trials and tribulations only make us stronger and wiser – that then gives us the opportunity to help our other companies before they have to go through the same thing.
Some of the struggles we had were being structured. We are used to being in the field and believe we are naturally talented in sales and recruiting. However, when it comes to the things that actually come with running a business i.e. managing an office, accounting, and keeping things organized can be difficult, like everything when you first start. We’ve already put a lot of time towards our 10,000 hours 🙂

Any big plans?

Mainly, we want the things we say want to happen to actually come to fruition. We said we wanted to be on HGTV – we did. We said we wanted certain endorsements with roofing products and we’re doing that. The next step is seeing us become the best and only person they can think of when you say “Who’s a roofer?” to the average 15-year-old in America. Grow our team and continue to thrive.
