Today we’d like to introduce you to Donna Mitchell.
Hi Donna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
How I got started: things started for me at a very young age. I just couldn’t understand why I would get goosebumps when I would hear live music that a child my age knew nothing about. My Mom would always say to me that I was born music. I was adopted before I was born to my parents that saw in me something that would one day be who I am today at 55 years old. I remember the days that I would be on the front porch of our very first home spinning my personally autographed albums with my top-of-the-line record player while my friends would be playing with their dolls, riding bikes, and playing hide and go seek. I knew that it was bigger than me and I never ever looked back. At times, it would really scare me because I thought something was wrong with me until I met my biological father who was a musician to the core and chased music in the 60’s with some of the greats. He would say to me “sing because you can’t run from it”.
From that point on I knew the reason of my being and I never looked back. My adopted Mom was my heartbeat and she believed in me like no other and equipped me with all of the tools as a teenager to walk that journey of music. I became a mother at a very young age and had to put my life aside as I had to raise them as a single parent. My Mom was the air that I breathed, and as she was transitioning into her eternal home, I would sit by her bed, and the whisper of her voice softly in my ear was saying DE Music. At that very moment DE Music Management was born. Today, I am CEO/Founder of my company, and I manage my very talented son, a up and coming hip hop artist with a story to tell.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I put GOD first in everything that I do and I mean everything before I make any moves. HE has given me so much beauty in this journey because I follow HIS lead. The people he put right before me when I never even saw it coming is the most awarding experience one can have. If you have the right people around you that want to really see you grow, then its a win win situation. In this industry, I see the missing pieces and I see how challenging it can be however I want to break that cycle and help as many souls as I possibly can through my nurturing an humbling spirit while also being firm. I am a force to be reckoned with when just given the opportunity. I wouldn’t quite say its a struggle but it is truly not an easy industry to break in but I just keep busting down the doors, God and me.

- Booking- 15%-20% of Performance Fee
- Property Management/Music Business Consultations-$125 per hour
- Talent Representation/Negotiating Contracts- $250 per client per service)
- Single/Album Release Events- (to be discussed after initial consult of goals for the event)
- Music Compilations-$150 (per artist of 12 songs)
