Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Keona Favis.
Dr. Favis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Wow! where do I begin? So I started this journey into chiropractic in my last year of Undergrad at Dillard University of New Orleans. Now mind you, I knew nothing about chiropractic and was honestly going to pursue Physical Therapy. However, after doing observations within the field of PT, I was like yeaa…this is not the most interesting field of work for me…I know there is something else out there I can do that will ignite my passion to serve and have fun while doing it. So I just continued to pray and allow God to guide me. Then all of a sudden, we had a surprise presentation in Microbiology. Mr. Mackel Harris, a recruited from Life University at the time presented the profession of chiropractic to us and showed this procedure where you were able to turn a breached baby into the proper position without surgery. I was like… *Jaw Drop*… now I can do something like that!
So then I began my journey at Life University. Although the program was one of the toughest experiences I’ve encountered in my life, with God and my amazing colleagues and mentor, I was able to persevere and graduate in March of 21′. Usually, you would think after someone graduates from a doctorate program, they would take a break, but I did not (lol) Right after graduation I started associating at a practice in Marietta, Revive Life and Wellness Center, with the Phenomenal Dr. Ashley Crittendon. She gave me the foundation I needed in order to succeed in this profession and that was to always be intentional and informative and to serve with passion and love when it comes downs to set yourself apart from the rest. I also was the Doctor On Set for a couple of up-in- coming movies in 2021. Now I am currently serving the community of Atlanta at The Chiropractic Center LLC in Midtown changing one spine at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but easy. Being in this profession for almost two years now and it feels like I’ve been in this profession for 10+. When I hit the ground running after graduating, I was covering for different practices and all their systems were very different, to say the least. I think one of the many struggles I encountered is transitioning my mindset from Wellness/Maintenance to Personal Injury. Seeing how a lot of the systems here prefer a “quantity over quality” method was very frustrating for me because I believe each individual that comes to us with their problems should be taken care of in the highest standard and quality possible and after your treatment, they should feel better. Period. As a Doctor, we are faced with so many different adversities that attempt to veer us away from our uniqueness and philosophy in this profession and I’ve made some difficult decisions to not allow myself to be taken advantage of as a young doctor and remove myself from any environment that doesn’t align with my foundation and purpose. Being confident in my craft and staying true to myself have been my focus as I am still learning the ropes and still have a long way to go.
We’ve been impressed with Kopacetic Khiropractic LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Yes! So Kopacetic Khiropractic LLC. is my start to building my own practice soon! Right now, I am doing traveling services but my foundation stays the same. I have packages available that are based on the specific needs of the patient. I specialized in Full Spine/Diversified, Thompson, Activator, Extremities, Cupping, Scrapping, and Physical Therapy Modalities such as Ultrasound, Muscle Stimulation, and more.
What sets me apart from others is the high-quality service and presence, along with my adjustments and skill to analyze my patient’s health spectrum, not just physical but mental and emotional. I am most proud of my resilience brand-wise because being an entrepreneur is not an easy job, sometimes you can get discouraged about the process and how unpolished it can be, but you don’t give up, you keep going, and you get it done.
I want readers to know that Chiropractic is so essential to our health. If we are able to obtain the knowledge of how to prevent disease, injuries, or other health conditions, why wouldn’t we take advantage of the opportunity to live our optimal lives and stay healthy for as long as we can? I want to provide that luxury to our community and hopefully continue to share the enlightenment and love with whoever I come in contact with.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my family, my partner, and my dog and getting opportunities to try new things and explore different places in the world. Getting to traveling is very soothing and I get to take a step back from society and tune in internally. I also love when I get to encounter patients who have a certain problem and after I adjust them, the emotion and happiness it brings them makes me love what I do.
