Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Michael Eggleston.
Hi Dr. Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have a bit of a long story but I will be brief. I had a background in massage therapy and athletic training. When I was getting my masters I thought I wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. So along with my classwork and clinical rotations at different collegiate sports teams, I was volunteering with the Atlanta Dream (WNBA) as well as shadowing one of the top orthopedic surgeons at Emory Hospital in the mornings a couple times a week and in the clinic during the day.
Specifically, one of my clinical rotations was with Kennesaw State’s football team their first year having a team. We had medical equipment that was protected from the Georgia sun on the field by a medical tent. It had spikes on the bottom so it could root into the grass on the field. Well when I put this tent away after practice on a pickup truck’s flatbed, the spikes came up in a scooping motion and sliced be in the groin and abdomen. I just knew the area felt white hot and was bleeding so I cleaned myself with gauze and put an ice pack on my groin area afterward.
Upon taking the ice off 30 mins later I never regained feeling in my thigh. I had sought out help from different professionals and doctors to no avail and was growing frustrated/ losing hope in ever having feeling in my thigh again. Fast forward to 6 months later, I still hadn’t regained feeling in my thigh. I was doing a thesis track for my masters. My thesis professor did some muscle tests on me and told me I had some muscles completely turn off. He told me to go see the sports chiropractor at my school, Life University. So I did; his name was Dr. Rau.
He did some muscle tests on me and gave me an adjustment/ alignment. He told me to comeback if I had any problems. I came back the next week because it felt good. Mind you, I didnt really believe in chiropractic at this point in my life, I didnt think they were necessary from my limited knowledge on them. But when I came back the following week he gave me another adjustment. I woke up 2 days later and my hand brushed against my leg; I could feel it a little. I was amazed at what I felt. I went back and told him a couple days later and he gave me another adjustment. Within a couple days from then I had full function and full feeling in my thigh.
He never explained what he did or why I regained feeling in my thigh, he was just happy for me. I was so amazed by this and had a burning desire to understand what happened to me and why, that I enrolled into the Doctorate of Chiropractic program and the rest is history. I’ve been able to help so many people and was able to understand what had happened to my body as a result of the injury, which never was affected as well as how I regained feeling back in my thigh.
This is the spark that brought me to Chiropractic.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My life has been full of trials and tribulations. Nothing I have done has come easy and I haven’t had the traditional road to anything I’ve accomplished. I’m blessed enough to have worked with the NFL, NBA and WNBA with athletic training as well as attaining multiple masters, a doctorate and building my own business from the ground up that is starting to gain traction in Atlanta.
But everything that I have done was due to hard work, dedication, holding myself accountable and learning/ growing from my mistakes even in the midst of setbacks along every step of that way. These setbacks would be a blessing in disguise because they taught me that I have to change my mindset/ actions and grow in order to be who I envisioned.
I’ve been railroaded by others behind closed doors, been immobilized and debilitated by a serious car wreck, had to overcome multiple deaths of close friends to violence, deaths of family, almost been kicked out of school, been deeply depressed, even lost my hair with bad alopecia due to stress and almost lost my way/ myself along the way. Throughout life I know everything can change in a year or even a month so I’ve always tried to keep my goals and vision on the forefront of my mind.
Life taught me I had to lean back into showing myself love and filling my own cup in order to help others eventually, instead of being the workaholic that out worked everyone as a young man. Leaning into myself meant I had to envision my goals through meditation, feed my body/ exercise, feed my mind/ reading books/ learn new languages, give love back to myself through traveling the world/ learning from other cultures, cooking Whole Foods/ feeding my body healthy food instead of over processed fast food, and putting love back into my family.
All of this was emphasized through consistency and that’s the focus of my life now. By being consistent on positive habits, I was able to have a mental, physical and spiritual shift that a lot of people can feel by being around me. I had to hold myself accountable and be real enough with myself to recognize I needed to be/ do better if I wanted to help anyone else change. This was definitely not easy and took a couple years but I was able to come out on the other side as a Doctor and a businessman that I can be proud of from where I started. Greatness comes through consistency.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Time is of the essence to a lot of professionals, so we want to bring a relieving chiropractic service to them that is convenient; at their home or office/ place of work.
I have a unique and versatile background that has allowed me to be well versed in alot within the realm of sports medicine, massage and chiropractic. So during a session, one will experience a full body session comprised of spinal cord stretches, massage, full body joint mobilization and chiropractic adjustments with a relaxing/ comfortable atmosphere.
Although we are still a new business, we have been leaving are mark on Atlanta. I’m most proud that chiropractors are starting to educate people on what we actually do, not just “cracking bones” but it’s so much more than that. That was a priority to me when I started marketing on social media. We made a point that we wanted to shift that narrative and enlighten people on what we do backed by real deal results from people who didn’t really know or believe in chiropractic. Showing people the value that chiropractors brought was of paramount importance to me in order to have my business flourish, as well as the profession as a whole. Everything we did was calculated and purposeful. I’m just glad chiropractors are showing that value to the public now.
Overall, we are just getting started but I have a feeling that this business can turn into a franchise, with a business model that can go national.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Technically, I just started 9 months ago and I’m still learning more and new things about business and branding. One thing I can say to someone starting out now is to make sure they have a goal and be consistent in their mindset and actions. The habit of consistency will build the foundation for momentum and growth to happen.
Also they have to be open to criticism as well as have a support system that they trust. As a business owner, I don’t know everything; I’m a babe in the woods so knowledge and taking advice is important but also having the discernment to know how to filter out unnecessary static/ noise from those trying to deter you or not on the path you are on.
Lastly, I would say be prepared to fall on your face because if you are you can get back up easier, becoming stronger, smarter and more resilient. As a business owner you have to stand apart and not be one to follow the crowd. Dare to be one that stands on your beliefs and handle yourself accordingly to set the standard for your business/ brand. You represent something that’s bigger than you and can help more people.
