Exploring Life & Business with Fredinna Lapsley of Trinity Care Adult Day Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fredinna Lapsley.

Hi Fredinna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After graduating from Florida A& M University, I knew I wanted to transfer the knowledge I had obtained in the classroom into a Corporate setting which would allow me to change the way healthcare services were provided in healthcare facilities. After seeing the adverse health effects on people of color due to limited access to financial resources and or access to care in urban areas, I was committed to learning how to change the narrative to ensure African Americans had access to quality healthcare which included improving Senior services. Over the last 20 years, every career choice has been fueled by that commitment to preserve, protect and enhance how aging and senior care is perceived. My goal at every healthcare facility and with every team has been connecting the “have nots”, to services that are traditionally a standard in any healthcare facility for those that have access to financial resources. Starting Trinity Care Group in 2016 was my way of creating a Health Care Center that seamlessly provides services for seniors in an urban market that connects them to first-class care without being denied equitable services despite socio-economic status.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The greatest challenge has been individualizing services to create a model that’s different from an archic system that overpromises and underdelivers. The goal of my company has been creating a unique model that understands the service needs of each senior individually while preserving the components that still provide meaning and purpose to their lives.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Trinity Care Adult Day Care provides an aging in place solution and options for family caregivers. Our nursing and Activity professionals provide customized plans for social and recreational engagement cater to the cognitive, physical and health needs of seniors. Trinity Care offers caregivers a solution by restoring dignity and lost independence for seniors who can become socially isolated and lack the interpersonal skills to maintain active lifestyle. We are known for providing companionship and daily assistance in a structured environment for seniors who may have cognitive or physical impairments that require daytime support and supervision. Our services are unique and provide creative programming in a medical model that supports remaining at home in the community while preventing or delaying placement in a Nursing Home or Assisted Living community.

I am most proud of being able to directly give back to my community by serving those that are often forgotten about as a result of being in an ethnic or social class. Offering an environment that’s a safe place for “all people”, in an inclusive environment built on fundamentals of service. Trinity Care is a service for Seniors but also for caregivers to support and foster caring relationships by removing the burden of aging.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t feel luck has been a part of my story, but hard work and dedication have been critical components for my business. My personal philosophy is based on the fact that success comes to those that work. Despite the challenges and successes within my business, I can appreciate the journey and recognize my growth as a leader and entrepreneur.
