Exploring Life & Business with Glennda Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glennda Baker.

Hi Glennda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Oh, my stars! I have been in real estate since Jesus was a baby, 30 years at this point. I used to design and manufacture ladies clothing here in Atlanta and decided retail was just not where I wanted to be for the rest of my life. My mom encouraged me to get my real estate license in 1992. At first, I was going to be an assistant. I needed a regular paycheck. I interviewed with a couple of different agents and teams, and no one would hire me, I was either too bubbly or they were concerned that they would be training their competition. I read a book How to Develop a Six Figure Income in Real Estate by Mike Ferry. I went to the Taj Mahal of real estate, a big fancy brokerage here in Atlanta and met with the broker. I told her I have five people that want to list their house with me and nobody will hire me will you give me a job. Sure, enough she did… the rest is history. Fast forward 30 years and I have sold thousands of houses run an all-female team called the diamond squad!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say that the road of real estate has been curvy and had some potholes for sure! Everybody says they wish they knew then what they know now and that is absolutely the case for me. I wish I had bought more real estate earlier on. I wish that I had bought the houses that I sold to clients as investments. I wish that I had bought the houses that my clients passed on as investments. I wish every time that I listed a house that I looked at it as an investment opportunity for myself first. But I did not! I have learned so much over a career of 30 years! I have helped many clients build generational wealth with real estate and I have helped thousands of people achieve their goals of homeownership. So, while the road has had lots of curves, lots of ups and downs… ultimately, I’ve been able to help so many people realize their dreams with real estate.
