Exploring Life & Business with Harley Pogue of Harley Marie Social

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harley Pogue

Hi Harley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always wanted to be a modern day Samantha Jones, but that dream really took off when I got to college and took my first Communications class. I was hooked. I then ended up with an internship at Dress Up working under Liz Webber who was the head of PR at the time and that was the first time I was sure of myself. I ended up starting my business 2 years later after working as a temp for The Smith Agency through AmericasMart. I realized I had a knack for talking to strangers! I had less than a handful of businesses believing in me at that time, but the only thing bigger than my hair is my dreams! It was originally meant to be a boutique PR firm, but I quickly realized the demand was higher in social media. As I pivoted, I truly fell in love with socials and the impact they have on small businesses. I’ve now dedicated myself to supporting the dreams that have transformed into businesses.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I took the path not taken- I didn’t finish my education. I was raised in a single parent home and after COVID finances became tight. Unfortunately my education was entirely too much of a burden for us and I’d lost my spark for it after getting a taste of the working world. Despite not getting a traditional 4 year degree, I’ll always sit in a seminar or an informational meeting. In December of 2023, I welcomed the sweetest baby boy and while it made work bumpy for a while, he’s now my reason to keep going!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
HMS truly started out of opportunity and passion. I realized early on that I had a love for small businesses- and particularly small business owners. The sky is the limit in social media and it’s something that can change the life of a business owner.

We specializing in content creation/social media planning. I tell everyone that I’m a professional “hype girl” because it’s my job to tell everyone how amazing a business is!

What sets us apart is that we only work with women owned businesses! It originally wasn’t supposed to be that way and now we’ve found our clan of people!

I want the readers to know that Harley Marie Social is truly my passion next to being a mom.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Yapping of course! My father always said I could have a conversation with a brick wall. I have a knack for talking to people and hearing their stories and I love to ask “how can I be here for you?”
