Today we’d like to introduce you to Indigo Grant.
Hi Indigo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in 2019, I was working for Target corporate and I felt like I wasn’t living in my purpose. I took a leave of absence to build a brand created around helping others. So at first, I realized I needed to build my name up in the entertainment world, I had connections but they weren’t the connections to get me into the right rooms. So in January of 2019, I became a party promoter. After building my name up and realizing I still wasn’t content with where I was so I stepped into event production. In April of 2019, I began to plan a celebrity basketball game for the late great Nipsey Hussle. It was amazing! Simply one of the best put together celebrity basketball games our city had ever seen. Shortly after hitting Shaderoom and having my event covered on the biggest media outlets any and everyone was on my phone for a partnership opportunity. A lot of relationships that were built ultimately got me to where I was today. Working with some of the bigger brands in the very early stages of my career, I didn’t care to tie myself or my name to anyone and everything. In January of 2021, I started working directly with T.I and for me, that was a dream. I mean come on it’s T.I lol… I learned a lot in those few months and decided that ultimately it was time for me to move to ATL (which is one of the best decisions I could have ever made for my career and company”.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Being a female in this industry, you have to work twice as hard. A lot of who I was morally insisted on me saying no to things that did not align with the path that I wanted to be on. A lot of it revolved around putting in the work instead of chasing the clout. It consisted of me actually finding the talent that nobody knew and building them into a star! But one thing I can say for anyone trying to work in the industry is you do not need to know EVERYTHING to begin. Just begin and you can figure out the rest later.
As you know, we’re big fans of IGM Agency. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
IGM is an agency that offers Marketing, Events, Branding. Talent Development, Management and more. I wanted to create something that was considered a one stop shop for my current and future clients. So hiring me means yes, I can manage your career, throw your single release party while making sure you have a successful roll out and your release lives everywhere! For me standing out meant learning how to make seven figures from my home without being outside in the “mix”. I’ve never been caught up in any of the extraness. And again, I make sure I am extra careful about what I tie my name and brand too! I am proud of all the artist careers I have impacted, whether it is privately known or publicly known to be able to truly change people lives is an incomparable feeling. It is literally better than any feeling I have ever felt.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
There is this app called Chopra. I make it a priority to meditate before bed and as soon as I wake up. Mental health is so important. When you are juggling 40+ calls a day sometimes it can be a lot on your mind and body and having that time to mentally balance yourself back out is how I stay ahead of my anxiety.
