Hi Iyanna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Through my own battle with Cancer, I learned a lot of big brand name companies use harsh and HARMFUL chemicals. I wanted to make safe cosmetics using Botanicals. Cancer can do damage to more than just your body. You don’t feel pretty when you’re in the fight. So I named my Cosmetics line Pretty Girl ‘Cosmetics by Iyanna. My Cosmetics are for EVERY woman from every walk of life, with every story. I have been in business for seven years now and blessed enough to have my cosmetics in some BIG name celebrity hands. No matter the age, creed or financial status there is a PRETTY GIRL in every woman. It’s not just make-up, it’s a PRETTY GIRL movement.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Trying to get into major department stores is a challenge. They want you to have 100,000 followers. Thru my website, networking and word of mouth, I now have international customers.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am proud my manufacturer helped me find safe ingredients to use in my cosmetics. I was able to help two young ladies start their very own cosmetics line. My products are made of quality and LOVE. My website is available 24/7 to order. I also give new customer shout outs on social media, welcoming them to the Pretty Girl family. I am a sole proprietor and I package each order myself. I also have a full BOTANICAL skincare line.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
To make sure you have several streams of income. My business slowed the first six months of covid but didn’t STOP. I was able to make money in my sleep thru my website. Invest in yourself and your business and it will return to you 100 fold.
