Exploring Life & Business with Ja’lia Marie of Ja’lia Marie Productions LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ja’lia Marie.

Hi Ja’lia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my journey as an aspiring model. I never really felt like I was reaching my full creative potential. It felt more like I was selling my body for validation, rather than actually using my vessel as an outlet to display live art. I became a photographer to change the trajectory of my self image and my creative expression.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has NOT been an easy road. I think I actually prefer it that way. The only way to truly learn is through trial and error. There are situations that I would have never overcome had I not had the experience of difficulty during the process. Struggle builds character and resilience.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I began as a photographer and transitioned to a full on media company (Photography, Videography, Creative Direction, Image Consultant, Social Media Management, Journalist, etc.). My experience in television, radio, magazine, published author, the music industry, and show business as a whole has helped me realize that I was putting myself in a box. I’m more than a photographer. I am Ja’lia Marie, all things media.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
You know, I didn’t like my childhood very much. It was full of trauma and bad experiences. I will say; however, the most effective part of my childhood was my education. While all the other children were outside playing during summer, winter, and spring breaks, my siblings and I were inside reading, writing book reports, and competing against each other in spelling bees. We were in a lot of advanced programs like “Star Reach”, strings, band, chess club, and spelling bees. My mother tried her best, in our earlier years, to set us up for success.
