Exploring Life & Business with Jasmine Towler of Chanel Styles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Towler.

Hi Jasmine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had an interest in hair since I was young. My internet really took off when I started college. I was constantly switching up my looks when it came to hairstyles and started practicing on my close friend’s hair. During the pandemic, I came home and went back to my 9 to 5 but decided to take the leap of faith to quit my job and pursue my passion for hair as an Atlanta hairstylist. My clients started off small with just close friends and coworkers. I made a hair page to market my work and from there I built my clientele. Today my business is constantly improving and growing reaching goals I use to pray about. Being a new hairstylist has its lows and highs but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love what I do and I know it’s only up from here. I can’t wait to see what all ChanelStyles has in store for me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur, you have good days and bad days but it’s beauty in the struggle. Hair is a very big industry all over the world but especially in Atlanta. It’s a lot of hairstylists who do the same thing I do so starting off it was very intimidating. I didn’t always want to do hair, I went to college to study biology. I’ve always done hair it just wasn’t my main focus. When the pandemic came, I transferred schools and moved backed to the city. From there I had to find a stream of income while I was home. I had a part-time job at Walmart but it just felt like I needed to do more. Being a hairstylist, you are your brand you have to market yourself and your work and find the right clientele. Sometimes I get unmotivated when I feel like I haven’t progressed the way that should but then again I’m just an overachiever. I know that through the grace of God I will never fail. My faith is what keeps me going and pushes me to limits I sometimes think is impossible to reach. Even on the bad days, I know that God will always provide for me and keep on blessing me and my business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Chanel Styles is like a baby to me. When I first started out doing hair, all of the clients were either close friends or neighbors. I never really had a platform until one day they convinced me to make a hair page to show off my work. I’ve never been big about social media so at first, I was reluctant because I thought who would want to follow my hair page I’m new to the game. Then one day I dedicated to get out of my head and put myself out there. Chanel Styles will be a household name, a brand that will reach heights beyond what I can imagine. As a stylist, you have to be creative and unique. I specialize in Wig installs with the hopes to make every install as natural and flawless as possible but I’m also a well-rounded stylist. I do locs, sleek ponytails, natural hairstyles, and I’m always open to trying new things. December will make two years since I started and since then I’ve gained so many new clients as well as experiences that I look forward to what the next few years will bring!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I always knew I was special and destined for greatness. There was nothing that I was scared I was full of ambition and my personality always spoke for me. Living in Brooklyn, NY my mom had to keep us busy so she would sign me up for things like dance lessons, swimming lessons, bowling tournaments, cheerleading and the list goes on. I was always at the top of my class I loved school and learning new things. Anything that I did I had to make sure that I excelled and was the best at it, at least to myself. I always felt like I had a point to prove and I made it my business to always see it through.
