Exploring Life & Business with Jessalyn Fitzgerald of J Ann C Cleanings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessalyn Fitzgerald.

Jessalyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was a dental assistant for 9 years most of my career in California. Moving to Ga and finding out I was pregnant at 10 weeks with my son it was apparent that my working back at the dental
Office I would be making just enough to put one of my children into day care. My oldest was turning 4 so she was able to go into GA PreK luckily. Just didn’t make any sense to leave my kids for someone else to raise them if I was only getting paid to hire someone to watch them. I became a SAHM home schooling and taking care of the necessities. After a year at home I quickly found myself losing myself. I worked all my life since 15yo and always had my own, yes my husband was taking care of the bills but it was hard to feel useless in the financial aspect, asking for money for simple things as food and gas. I decided I wanted a job that I can make money but still be able to care for my children and not be away from them all day. We decided to open J Ann C Cleanings, a cleaning company that is family owned and caters to residential, commercial, office settings, post construction and more. We have been so successful in such a short time that we are able to offer sacred heart cleans for those in need that cannot necessarily afford a clean. I have a mentor that took the time out to show me the ropes, she has her own cleaning company and is well
Known Riverwood Farm Cleanings and I am extremely grateful for her willingness to teach and share ideas. We have become booked in a fairly quick timing and nothing a little hard work and networking for any business idea you may have can’t achieve.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The start we may have gotten 3-6 clients a month , within 9 months to a year we were filling upmost of the schedule most months. The thing about starting your own business is that you have to trust and believe in you and your craft and you have to push it hard there is no time for a break at the start of creation or you can quickly find yourself stagnant or back tracking. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to quick from time to time but the struggles make you push harder.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a cleaning business that does any and everything from cleaning a single bathroom in a residential home to cleaning a kitchen in a busy restaurant. We clean hoarded homes , new build post construction, schools , offices , retail stores and many more.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Heather with Riverwood Farm Cleanings and Tamara Badson with Errands by Demand are both very instrumental in my success and growing today.
