Exploring Life & Business with Jessica Fields of Harbor 26 Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Fields

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be in a field that allowed me to blend creativity with analysis. It just felt natural to me to combine the two. So, in college (KSU), I pursued a degree in Graphic Communications and Engagement Marketing that supported this vision. After graduating, I worked in corporate for five years, soaking in everything I could about business, strategy, and systems.

What I didn’t expect was the realization that no one has it all figured out. You grow as you go. That insight, combined with a little personal reflection, gave me the courage to take the leap and start my own business. I wanted to build something that felt true to both my creative and analytical sides—and that’s how Harbor 26 Studio was born. I wanted to build something that reflected both my passions and allowed me to create a space where others could thrive.

Now, I get to combine both passion and skill every day, helping businesses create strategies that are both smart and creative. And honestly? It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve been able to work with 6–7–8–figure brands, clients featured in Vogue, and met so many other incredible business owners.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The toughest part, especially in the beginning, was maintaining a work/life balance. As a business owner, there’s this constant pull to do more, to be everywhere, to make sure everything is perfect. The guilt of not doing enough is real, and it can be hard to step back and slow down. But over time, I’ve learned that running a successful business isn’t about constantly hustling—it’s about finding the right rhythm and taking the time to recharge when needed.

Like anything new, starting a business has involved a lot of problem-solving, learning, and growth. Every day has been a chance to figure something out, whether it’s refining our processes or overcoming new obstacles. It’s definitely been challenging at times, but the growth has made it all so rewarding. Looking back, those struggles have been some of the most valuable lessons in building a business that’s not just sustainable but also fulfilling.

We’ve been impressed with Harbor 26 Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Harbor 26 Studio is a full-service social media marketing and creative agency built for ambitious businesses that want to stand out in the ever-evolving world of social media. We pride ourselves on providing white-glove service, going beyond just being a vendor—we’re your in-house marketing team, fully invested in your brand’s success. Whether you’re navigating calm waters or facing a storm, we’ve got your back every step of the way.

What sets us apart? First and foremost, we don’t use Canva templates. We can spot them a mile away, and trust us, they’re doing more harm than good for your brand. Instead, we believe in a custom approach for every client. Each one goes through a creative direction phase where we craft a brand and content strategy that’s truly unique to them, no cookie-cutter solutions here.

We also don’t follow generic strategies. Your business isn’t like anyone else’s, so why should your marketing be? We take the time to dive deep into your brand, your audience, and everything in between to ensure we’re creating content that truly resonates and delivers results.

As a full-service agency, our goal is to make life easier for you as a business owner. We provide everything you need to succeed, no matter what stage your business is in, and we leverage our extensive network of connections to ensure your brand is always taken care of. Our services include social media management, paid ads, email marketing, branding, photo + video production, and more.

What I’m most proud of is the reputation we’ve built for thoughtful, tailored strategies that make our clients shine. We don’t just do the work, we make sure it’s work that moves the needle and makes a lasting impact.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I definitely think leaving the steady paycheck of corporate life was a major risk. For many, that’s the safety net as they know exactly what to expect. But for me, taking the leap into entrepreneurship was like pulling back on a slingshot. You pause for a bit, you gather strength, and then you propel yourself forward. It’s a little scary, but the momentum and growth you gain in the process can take you much further than you ever were in the corporate world.

I like to think that risk isn’t about just jumping into the unknown…it’s about understanding the trade-offs and making a conscious decision to move toward something that aligns with your bigger vision. Yes, it’s uncertain, and yes, there are bumps along the way, but those risks have pushed me to grow in ways that staying in a corporate job simply wouldn’t have.

I don’t necessarily see myself as a “risk-taker” in the traditional sense, but I do believe in calculated risks—taking the steps that feel right even when they’re outside of your comfort zone. It’s all about trusting yourself and your ability to adapt. And so far, it’s been the best decision I could have made.
