Exploring Life & Business with Jordan Rose of Rose Media Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Rose.

Hi Jordan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always tell people I fell into a video by accident. I was always fascinated by technology and paired it with almost crippling creativity – I’m an only child. When I was about 16, my mother brought me a camera for Christmas. A camera was the only thing I asked for and knew that it would be a stretch getting it. However, she was able to get me a Canon t3i after finding it open box on sale at Walmart. From there, I started to take pictures of myself and my friends. It slowly evolved to doing paid photoshoots.

After a while, I decided that I wanted to record hype videos for my school’s football team. After a brief conversation with the coach- I received the green light. I was the second guy to do this for the school, as the guy before me was getting ready to graduate. This didn’t sit well with everyone, and I remember hearing rumors about staff, coaches, and other students talking down on me for following in the guy before me’s footsteps. I never took any of this to heart because video was simply something fun to do for me. Eventually, the team asked me to make a video to submit in a Powerade competition. I did and won the athletic program $10,000, so around this point, everyone started to warm up to me doing videos.

I graduated and went to Morehouse. I had broken the first camera I had, so I used my first refund check to buy a new one. Not long after, I got a text from an old associate from back home asking to shoot a music video – and have someone else edit it. I did it, and from there, I started receiving requests to do music videos every time I came home from school. Out of nowhere, COVID hit and got us sent home from school. I had recently lost my job due to downscaling – and was surviving on a quickly depleting scholarship savings. At this point, I decided to truly start taking music videos seriously.

Over the next two years, I grew, traveled, and met amazing people. Eventually, I had decided that I would do this full-time instead of following my original ambitions of going to law school. Nevertheless, I ended up losing my mom in December of 2022- and I promised her that I would finish school. So, for the following two years, I would manage being a full-time student and a full-time music video director.

Once COVID “ended* and I was able to return back to Atlanta, I quickly had to readjust. Though I had clients from several places over the nation, 80% of my clientele was in South Georgia. Once I got to Atlanta, I was under booked for the first time in two years – so I decided to open my business to commercial clients.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve faced a lot of struggles getting to the point I am at now.

On a personal note, I’ve had to deal with the grief of losing people I loved during 2020 and 2021. That caused me to have to face my inner issues head-first and actively work towards healing my trauma. This impacted my business more than anything else. Being a student and CEO at the same time while trying to heal was incredibly difficult.

On another note, I’ve had to overcome my fair share of hurdles in my business. Moving back to Atlanta with 0 clients put a serious strain on my finances. I went from making more money than I could have ever imagined to suddenly having multiple months with $0 in income. After adding commercial services (and switching to a commercial-first business model) I have faced – and still do- the obstacle of being a young-black professional. It’s difficult to get business owners to take you serious enough to spend thousands of dollars with you when you’re black and can barely buy alcohol.

Rose Media Productions is a production company that specialized in Commercials and Music Videos. We combine our knowledge of video production and our marketing skills to make compelling visuals. Our key goal is to make visuals that solve our customer’s problems or help them reach their goals faster.

On another note, we also understand that every business doesn’t look to make money with videos. We also work hard with businesses to creatively and expressively tell important stories to them through videos.

What matters most to you? Why?
Relationships are truly everything to me. Losing people that were important to me made me truly begin to value relationships with those that I am fortunate enough to call my village. However, not only do relationships with people matter greatly to me, but my relationship with God has reigned supreme in my life.

Pricing:

  • Music videos can be priced anywhere from $1,300-$20,000
  • Commercials can be priced anywhere from $2,000-$100,000
