Today we’d like to introduce you to Jovan Scott-Walker.
Hi Jovan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Being raised by a single mother, it did not take long to understand what it takes to achieve my dreams – passion, determination, and a lot of hard work. My mother taught me never to give up on dreams and instilled a burning desire to succeed. As a teen, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and ultimately stepped into the business world with the launch of Mal’s Steaks, a restaurant established in 2018 in Conyers, GA.
Thanks to my Mother and Nana, I made Mal’s Steak a success and used the profits to invest in Airbnb. I started with two lofts in downtown Atlanta and soon turned the investment into a $230K a year revenue-generating stream. I then proceeded to buy my first house in my hometown Philly and resold it to make my first $50K.
I started doing flips with my profits and ultimately turned my part-time hustle into a business, J2XA Management. Founded in 2020, the startup grossed over $2.7 million in two years.
Passionate about sharing my story and success secrets with the world, I authored a book in 2021, The Airbnb Survival Guide. The book entailed all my trade secrets to teach others how they can set up an Airbnb and transform it into a lucrative business. It went on to become the #1 New Release on Amazon.
In 2021, I formulated Care With Experience alongside my mother, which is now one of the top healthcare providers in Atlanta, GA. Honestly, I owe all my success to my Mother and Nana. I became who I am today due to their faith, investment, and guidance. I am sure I would never reach where I stand today without their constant love and support.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think success ever comes without a few challenges. Everyone must jump through some hoops to become who they aspire to be. In my journey, the biggest challenge was learning how to get loans and the funding to run my property management business.
It wasn’t easy to scale my business from $100K flips to $500K flips, but ultimately, I did and even exceeded it. I guess it’s all about perseverance at the end of the day – how badly you need something and how determined you are to get it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Care With Experience and J2XA Management?
Currently, I am operating two businesses; J2XA Management and Care With Experience. Among the two, I am most proud of the one I built alongside my support system and mother – Care With Experience. It’s a private home care provider serving the city of Atlanta, GA and ten of its surrounding counties: Clayton, Gwinnett, Fulton, DeKalb, and Rockdale Henry, Forsyth, Cobb, Walton, and Douglass.
The agency offers around-the-clock skilled and non-skilled care in the comfort of our patient’s homes. The main goal of Care with Experience is to bring smiles to the faces of our patients and their families by providing personalized quality care. In just shy of a year, Care With Experience has become one of Atlanta’s top home care providers and continues to positively impact the lives of thousands.
I am also super proud of the flips I made over the years, as they helped me set up the business through which I can serve others, impact lives, and share smiles.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I believe the best way to find a mentor and a mass team driven by a shared vision is to share your story with the world. Once you share your dream, you get the opportunity to find people who can relate to it. It allows you to find resources that can help transform your dream into reality, and you find mates who will walk forward with you. To all those who dream about positively impacting lives and reshaping the community for the better, all you need to do is work hard and share your dream. The right opportunities will come.
That’s how I became who I am today and met like-minded people who shared my vision. The journey only becomes simple from there onwards. Just stay true to your vision and never give up on your dreams.
