Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathleen Nicole.
Hi Kathleen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Certain values were instilled in me that would eventually lead me to where I am today. I was raised to be a critical thinker, a reader, a rebel of sorts, and to be fiercely loyal to my family and my people. I learned to question everything and to never take anything anyone says at face value. This led me to become an African Holistic Health Practitioner, dedicated to helping the Black community optimize their physical, mental and spiritual health by leveraging the transformative power of Fasting, Black Radicalism and Black Spirituality.
I also saw how the U.S, Healthcare System failed my family and I wanted to break the generational curse of chronic disease and premature death and show others how they could do the same. We’ve been held prisoner by the lie that disease is inevitable and once we have a disease we must live with it forever. But the truth is, the body has an innate miraculous ability to heal itself if we create the right environment. Being healthy, happy, and whole is our birthright and we can reclaim it. I am purposed and destined to remind Black people of this irrefutable truth.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is a scripture in the Bible that says, “Man born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble”. Struggle is an inescapable part of all of our lives, including me. Some of my struggles involved transcending childhood trauma and low self-esteem. I have also dealt with physical illness and of course, the subtle and not so subtle racism I face daily as a Black person here in America. And then there is life; the loss of loved ones, rejection, and disappointments. But one of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou and she says, “Every storm runs out of rain”. Trouble doesn’t last always. And more importantly, it is in the struggle that character is built and revealed. There’s no way to know what you’re made of until you face struggle. And you learn if you are the hero of your story or the victim.

This program has coached hundreds of people on how to lose weight and reverse their hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes. We are changing the narrative of what it means to be Black in America, one hour of fasting at a time.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Anytime you take a risk, there is the possibility of failure. People are afraid to fail and so they do not take risks. But Dr. Herbert Harris said, “you literally fail your way to success if you just do not quit”. You must take risks to win and succeed in life. They don’t have to be ill-planned and impulsive. You can take calculated risks. But you must take risks. The desire for success must be greater than the fear of failure.
