Exploring Life & Business with Kia Anderson of KMONAE&CO JEWELERS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Anderson.

Kia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in Greenville, NC. I started my business in 2018 after getting in trouble and not being able to find anywhere that would take someone with a record. As a single mom, I needed money fast!

So, I borrowed $100 to start selling lashes. I started with 10 pair after selling those I starting flipping them and repeating.

Lashes weren’t the only things I wanted to get into so after a while I just started thinking and jewelry was probably one of the first things that came to mind because I’m my mind we didn’t have that many people like myself in this industry so without even testing anything out I found a supplier used their pictures to start promoting this new venture and instantly the orders started to come in and that is how this all began.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
This road hasn’t been easy at all. I’ve had so many problems when it has come to this because I just jumped into it without testing anything, doing research, etc. although I’m a problem solver and I took very good care of my customers, there are things that could have been avoided if this was done right. But, in the beginning, I just needed to feed my son.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
KMCO JEWELERS Is a new branch in the jewelry industry. We’ve started making our way with solid gold jewelry in hopes of building and moving towards the big boy lane … the diamonds. Our goal and hope is that when people mention jewelry, they don’t just think Wafi or Johnny dang we are a part of that narrative.

The thing that will set us apart is how inclusive we are and personable our brand is and will be. We want to provide an experience even as an e-commerce.

I believe the readers should know we are more than just a business we hope to build a family relationship with our clientele. Every week we are constantly adding new inventory to our collection for everyone to treat themselves to. Check us out.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned to always be prepared for times like this. Set yourself up to where you’re not panicky and wondering what are you going to do next.
